None of these appeal. But I do feel that I will be reading some horror. I avoid anything that involves children. So it is hunted houses for me.

I'm just about finished reading Dan Franklin's These Things Linger. Super creepy.

Glad u liked Creation Lake cause I just started reading it after seeing a lot of mixed reviews and after paying nearly thirty bucks at BN. I did read her book the Mars Room which turned out to be like Orange is the New Black on steroids.⚛️❤

"So Thirsty" was a total miss for me. DNFed after 230 pages because I just couldn't go on with this superficial midlife crisis meets vampires blech any longer...
And I have loved, loved, loved Rachel Harrisons "The Return" so very much.😪

👋 Rachel by chance to you recall having discussed a book where as it went on, the chapters got shorter and shorter just building suspense??? 🤔 I feel like it would have been this year.

I read incidents around the house last week. Finished it on Thursday and I have not been able to sleep normally since. And I’m a grown woman. Once you get past the “voice” of Bella this story is frightening. There was a jump scare in this book. How does that even happen? After last night of little sleep I sort of wish I had not read that book. lol

I'm so looking forward to Coup de Grace!

Coup de Grace and Creation Lake sound very promising for me, appreciate all you share with us.

Out of all the big name horror releases, Malerman has had the most positive reviews for his book. I read 2 others first and didn't really care for them. I wish I would have read this one first. Hopefully will rectify this soon.

I'm reading An Anonymous Girl right now, and it's so ominous and sinister. So good. I've added 4 from your list to my TBR.

Loved loved loved Incidents are the House. I actually did the audiobook and enjoyed it. It was narrated by a 16 year old, trying to sound younger. Five stars for me.

Library: The Queen is on order and I have a hold on that. Just added Coup de Grâce.
Incidents: since I can't get you to read Hawk Mountain I'll push for The First Day of Spring. Deeeply disturbing. Not the same level of depravity as Strange Sally Diamond (audiobook), but close.

Disappointing to hear about Brom's book. I loved Slewfoot and his artwork is usually exceptional. 👻

I’m with you on Brom. I read Slewfoot and thought it was just fine, but a 5 star read, no. However, I kept the book for my Halloween shelves because the art work was incredible. I wasn’t drawn to the cover of his latest. I think I’ll put Creation Lake on my list. I love a good haunted house, but they are hard to find. Not a big fan of children in horror. Thanks for the list.

I've read half of the books you reviewed. Loved Coup de Grace, Wasn't a fan of Devils Kill Devils (despite his previous book being a 4/5 for me), and the ARC for Evil in Me didn't have the artwork but I really enjoyed it anyway due to possession being my huge subgenera love. I share your thoughts on the Malerman book. I tried a few and just couldn't, not even his famous Bird Box. This one, yes it's a possessive entity so I'm swayed, was his best yet. You did get my interest going on Creation Lake, so adding it to my ever growing tbr. Thank you, always, for your time in your reviews.

Incidents around the House and Coupe De Grace are FANTASTIC!!!!

I did the audiobook of Incidents Around the House and I did almost nope out bc of the kid voice. I did stick with it and I'm glad I did bc it's probably my favourite Malorman so far, but it was close there. Not sure if the voice got better or if I just adjusted as I got more into the book.
