None of these appeal. But I do feel that I will be reading some horror. I avoid anything that involves children. So it is hunted houses for me.
ОтветитьWho could click by that title? Dark favorites. 💜🦹
ОтветитьHey Rachel! Do you mind if i create a list of these books and associate them with your channel on a site i'm building? I can email you the link afterwards. If i paste it here, yt will mark it as spam :/
ОтветитьCould not get into Incidents Around the house, added it to DNF list
ОтветитьI'm just about finished reading Dan Franklin's These Things Linger. Super creepy.
ОтветитьGlad u liked Creation Lake cause I just started reading it after seeing a lot of mixed reviews and after paying nearly thirty bucks at BN. I did read her book the Mars Room which turned out to be like Orange is the New Black on steroids.⚛️❤
Ответить"So Thirsty" was a total miss for me. DNFed after 230 pages because I just couldn't go on with this superficial midlife crisis meets vampires blech any longer...
And I have loved, loved, loved Rachel Harrisons "The Return" so very much.😪
👋 Rachel by chance to you recall having discussed a book where as it went on, the chapters got shorter and shorter just building suspense??? 🤔 I feel like it would have been this year.

ОтветитьI read incidents around the house last week. Finished it on Thursday and I have not been able to sleep normally since. And I’m a grown woman. Once you get past the “voice” of Bella this story is frightening. There was a jump scare in this book. How does that even happen? After last night of little sleep I sort of wish I had not read that book. lol
ОтветитьI'm so looking forward to Coup de Grace!
ОтветитьI’m starting Incidents Around the House tonight! Coup de Grace sounds awesome. Sorry you didn’t enjoy So Thirsty, I really loved it.

ОтветитьCoup de Grace and Creation Lake sound very promising for me, appreciate all you share with us.
ОтветитьOut of all the big name horror releases, Malerman has had the most positive reviews for his book. I read 2 others first and didn't really care for them. I wish I would have read this one first. Hopefully will rectify this soon.
Ответитьcoup de grace & creation lake sound so good! 🔪🩸🕵
ОтветитьYou've convinced me to check out Coup de Grace.
Ответить🎃💀👻
ОтветитьPearl is my favorite Josh Malerman. He is hit and miss with me.
ОтветитьAny suggestions on a horror book in a space setting? Or something with a sci fi lean.
ОтветитьIncidents around the house was fun
ОтветитьI don't know, but if I came across a dead body, I think I would call the police, or just 911.
ОтветитьI'm reading An Anonymous Girl right now, and it's so ominous and sinister. So good. I've added 4 from your list to my TBR.
ОтветитьLoved loved loved Incidents are the House. I actually did the audiobook and enjoyed it. It was narrated by a 16 year old, trying to sound younger. Five stars for me.
ОтветитьLibrary: The Queen is on order and I have a hold on that. Just added Coup de Grâce.
Incidents: since I can't get you to read Hawk Mountain I'll push for The First Day of Spring. Deeeply disturbing. Not the same level of depravity as Strange Sally Diamond (audiobook), but close.
Creation Lake : Ben (BenReadsGood) liked this so much I bought it (U.K cover is infinitely better).
Thank you Madam President.

ОтветитьI enjoyed Incidents Around the House other than it became too drawn out. Currently reading Malerman’s “Pearl”….😱
ОтветитьI thought these were supposed to be new favorites? You didn't really like a bunch of these
ОтветитьDisappointing to hear about Brom's book. I loved Slewfoot and his artwork is usually exceptional. 👻
ОтветитьThe Vermin Sleep might be the one book missing from your fall/winter 2024 TBR! 🐀🔨🩸💀

ОтветитьI’m with you on Brom. I read Slewfoot and thought it was just fine, but a 5 star read, no. However, I kept the book for my Halloween shelves because the art work was incredible. I wasn’t drawn to the cover of his latest. I think I’ll put Creation Lake on my list. I love a good haunted house, but they are hard to find. Not a big fan of children in horror. Thanks for the list.

ОтветитьCoincidentally I’m reading House of Leaves right now! I like the main narrative and I’m starting to realize I can skim some of the filler. I’ll have to check out your new recommendations. Thank you!
ОтветитьSo happy you found some good reads cause now we all have some good reads!
ОтветитьYou always give great spoiler free reviews which is difficult to do. Thank you.
ОтветитьI've read half of the books you reviewed. Loved Coup de Grace, Wasn't a fan of Devils Kill Devils (despite his previous book being a 4/5 for me), and the ARC for Evil in Me didn't have the artwork but I really enjoyed it anyway due to possession being my huge subgenera love. I share your thoughts on the Malerman book. I tried a few and just couldn't, not even his famous Bird Box. This one, yes it's a possessive entity so I'm swayed, was his best yet. You did get my interest going on Creation Lake, so adding it to my ever growing tbr. Thank you, always, for your time in your reviews.

ОтветитьYour reviews are the best at providing information that helps me determine which books I’ll enjoy without spoilers. Thank you! I’ve put Coup de Grace on my tbr.

ОтветитьIncidents around the House and Coupe De Grace are FANTASTIC!!!!
ОтветитьI did the audiobook of Incidents Around the House and I did almost nope out bc of the kid voice. I did stick with it and I'm glad I did bc it's probably my favourite Malorman so far, but it was close there. Not sure if the voice got better or if I just adjusted as I got more into the book.
