That price... It will kill all sales.... A Renault ZOE EV can be had for this price.... It should be around £12k max

Interesting points about whether it is financially viable, I've been thinking for some time that if you're charging at home, say every other day, you might get a bit of a shock when your electricity bill came in - especially if it was quarterly, and you'd spent the ' petrol money ' on other things.

Hate it when a bike doesn't handle neutral, my brothers zrx1200 had to held down into the corner. We fixed it with a narrower rear tire. We both kinda disliked the bike over it, until it was fixed.

Why wouldn’t it save you money in the long run if you are replacing an Electric Motorcycle for your ICE motorcycle? Far less maintenance, far lower cost per trip would equal less money
In the long run no?

Looks loads of fun! I'd like to have a go but I might like them too much and there is no way I could half afford one at the moment. I'm hoping the Japanese manufacturers get making electric bikes soon as that will be REALLY interesting!

@Rarefied Road Why is this better than energica SS9? I am considering both of them as a purchase, and I was wondering why you would choose this over the energica

Good Lord... surely that's not a real oem colour choice? It looks like it fell into a 80's time tunnel. On a different note, in the news today there was an interesting article about California experiencing some power strikes, and it making the Tesla cars un-serviceable! So I guess that also includes ebikes!

Sadly at the moment these things are very expensive toys, for the average person who is just an ordinary working stiff these are unthinkable prices, couple that with the hit and miss public recharge infrastructure and you have a rich man's toy, but I agree that this is ultimately the future, but in these very early days not a mass market item.

Electric bikes are definitely getting there, even an old guy like me who has been riding 40 years can see the end of the internal combustion engine on the horizon. Think these bikes are still more suited to city commutes. Watched Andy Man Cam's review and he was struggling with the charging network; finding the right charger, charging app and time required to charge.

Why haven't they put a full faring on any of their bikes? A rally-style fairing would be cool.

Enjoyable video. I just can't see these taking off for the time being at least, mostly for the reasons you outlined. A 5 min max fuel stop, compared to an hour for the best model, is a significant difference, especially on a 'day out' type of ride. Plus there is always the 'will I run out of juice' sitting in the back of your mind when out riding, and as the riding is the stress relief conduit, that's not necessarily a plus point......

Had my SRF premium for 6 months now. This test is spot on, my experience. I ride GSXR 1000 K5 and Cagiva Raptor as well so they are my frame of referance. The Zero holds its own on UK A or B roads. 0-30 torque curve is clipped otherwise you would be on your head. Open it up when moving.....unreal. In other words in any real road riding the SRF is quickest, you think it and its done. Range, turn everything up 100% 75 miles plus a 10 mile buffer so 85miles, take it easy (never managed it) 90 miles plus 5 mile buffer 95 miles total. Charging from empty on type 2 home / public charger (Note must feed the single phase power on L1 AND L2 phases to make both 2.8kW chargers turn on. Some UK home chargers only wired to L1 so if you have the premium and find on the road it charges twice as fast as home your home charger is only feeding L1 ) If your making both the chargers fire up on the premium thats 2.8+2.8 kW = 5.6kW = 75 minutes (but how often are you at zero so generally 1 hour 10% to 95%). Handling, if your using max regen (why wouldnt you) get used to the off position of the throttle and where to just roll through a corner or select a mode where theres no regen. Once mastered no need to apply the counter steer, it is dropping into the corner on its applied regen so feed in. Zero service excellent. Bike does what it says on the tin ......its a lot of fun.
