I feel (which is a terrible way to start a sentence) that "a lesser mans will may have broken beyond repair" is unfair, or only sometimes relatable. A less stubborn more open man may have been enlightened as intended. You or george, whoevers words those are, may be projecting their own history and wishes onto Jon.

The boss once said to me in a ramble about wars, "...and these guys come back unable to function" i said mfer, who are we to say theyre broken, one of our most important functions is to fight and kill.
