Why wouldn't Homeland Security require major transportation or industry have some built in redundancy ? It shouldn't be all or nothing to function in this country. Right now it is.

LOL, wow CBS, just wow. For clarity, we're talking millions of endpoints globally were affected and it does require manual intervention depending on the implementation. I am so thankful I don't work in support anymore cuz this was a weekend killer.

His last statement is one that we, in the IT field have been saying since the late 1990s...nothing has changed other than it isnt just people that are stupid and lazy...entire corporations are now by moving their IT from internal, to external and using the cloud.

When coding software: don't write go-to go-to's ...recipe for disaster and blue screens of death. Better yet don't use any Windows based computer products.
Go with Linux or it's famous stepchild Android.

Time to head in a different direction, web 1 and 2 lazing along in corporate clouds is just asking for trouble. There is a much better way to store and work with datasets, ICP, DYOR.

This is just as bad as kasperspy being blamed on for spying why don't we ban CloudStrike if they're having security issues as well I know it's not a Windows issue but I am glad I am on Linux and get frequent security updates that actually work and don't send my privacy to Microsofts data center.

The end user should be testing those patches also. Anyone subjected to the outage had the ability to prevent it if they were testing their patches properly and only deploying patches after that process

When did BSOD become "when it doesn't boot". BSOD can happen DAYS after startup... BSOD is when windows just gives up.

Where I work if we are having tech problems they want me to tell my customers that we are having updates, so I can't trust any company blaming an update for the problem. Updates are suppose to fix things, the update was nothing more than malware, the company Crowdstrike needs shut down and liquidated and those of us afflicted need compensated. You really think that a security company is going to be so upfront to admit they got hacked? In a couple of years we will hear this was a cyber attack, but for today while they can keep it covered the excuse is they don't test updates they just release it on their clients to test out for them....

Unless they were really just unlucky, the usual culprit is lack of pre-release testing. The QA function is always the first to be neglected. Wont guarantee absence of technical problems but can significantly reduce the (global) risks.

It's approx 50 years since the internet crept up on this techno obsessed society. By now people have no longer any clue whatsoever about life before the net. That there was ever such thing as "the Good Old Days" is a myth but before the net life was simpler, more efficient and without the threat of the entire global infrastructure breaking down - notwithstanding the forever ongoing wars. Life's become an AI Algorithm asylum, nothing relates to a natural existence anymore and we've all become slaves to an industry that is killing us. A total collapse of the entire internet would well be what this society needs to shock us back to reality. Greetings from 84 years of observing the self imposed downfall of the human race.
