I am losing coolant from my reservoir however the car is not overheating. I have checked and have others checked and still can't find where the leak is occurring. I have also change the coolant bottle and still experience the issue. Do you have any advice for me in terms of what I am missing or need to check?
ОтветитьThank you, very detailed information. I am about to check it and I am praying it's not the connectors.
ОтветитьThank you so much same issue on my jeeta tdi mk6 i done timing belt already but after 20km happen to me and every time between driving temperature light is on and after gone few minute later i check my car everything look normal no over heating coolant level perfect only issue coolant bottle bad 🙂🙏
ОтветитьIf you overfill the bottle. Where does the coolant go? Out the cap or some over flow tube to under the car?
ОтветитьHow is the shipping cost
Ответитьhey do you know why my coolant might be leaking? It is a rapid leak in a 2010 vw cc sport, as soon as I put coolant in, it starts leaking.
ОтветитьI had the whole bottle replaced last month. Warning light went away. Two weeks later it’s back on . Sick of this beetle honestly
Ответить400.000 on scoda 1,4............no problem!
Ответитьwhere can I get one for 2018 Q5 and what is the price range?
ОтветитьThank you for this.
hey my bottles is not hold coolant but no signs of leaks. The inside of my bottle is like pink dirt inside. How can i fix this
Hi there my car seems to loose coolant.its a new reservoir and carp was changed recently
ОтветитьHi. My son has a 2014 Passat and use`s coolent.Theres no white slime in the oil cap,no pressure an oil resudue in the coolant tank. When the weather was cold white smoke came out of the exhaust. Now in the summer theres no smoke. Do i have to change the headgasket?
ОтветитьMy 07 golf bkd has a leak cant find it replaced the expansion tank still the same probably topping up the bottle once a week as its below low and throws the coolant light on anyone have any tips ?
ОтветитьAny tips on replacing the trans cooler o rings on a 2014 passat 1.8 tsi?
ОтветитьI had the plastic crack around the coolant return, replaced the bottle, and now I'm losing coolant at a furious rate, but don't know from where. It seems to be collecting on the rim around the middle rim of the bottle, but have never managed to catch it actually coming out of anywhere. It's gotta be the cap or the overflow tube, or the sensor port.. but that narrows it down not at all. I tried a new cap and it doesn't feel like it is as snug as the original one, and leaking just as bad (if not worse). It's like the tolerances of the new bottle opening just don't match the old or new cap.
ОтветитьI seem to have a failure around the equator of it. If I top up, it leaks out when the car is cool and there is low pressure. I presume that's s venting system failure.
ОтветитьIf you are replacing one, drain it with a big old syringe/baster and a hose.
ОтветитьMk5 gti. After working on my car, I forgot to plug the radiator fans back in, and I let a friend of mine take it for a drive (we swapped cars).
Lo and behold when we meet back up, my temperature gauge is reading 280°F and I pop the hood and my radiator had burst along with my coolant ball reservoir. Luckily there was no damage done to the motor, but I still wonder how exactly the radiator and coolant ball burst if there is a pressure release.
02 vw gti vr6 with over 400k and still going. 09 gti as well. Not to mention the rest of the fleet from big rig to diesel 3500 and 2500 and f250 and motorcycle. Out all them vw is the biggest pain between the secondary air injection tube coolant globe the climate controls and radio ignition switch harness cooling fans
ОтветитьWay too wordy. I was waiting for the point
ОтветитьI got a 2011 Tiguan, and sometimes I find a puddle under the car where the bottle would be after driving, could the cap be purging?
ОтветитьVW service wanted to charge $199 to replace the coolant reservoir…. Idiots! This part costs $25 and it takes 15 minutes to replace. I’m following you for more videos! Thanks.
ОтветитьI'm using a Skoda Octavia and I saw smoke coming through the air conditioner vents... the coolant tank was empty... i refilled and it happened again after few kilometers... no leakage under the car. I will check the cap
ОтветитьThanks for this really 'COOL' video Henry,as ever great content man, keep on posting these 'COOL' uploads 🙂
ОтветитьWhats the best coolant for a 1995 VR6?
ОтветитьShould the coolant bottle be cold or hot?
ОтветитьI have a problem with skoda 184bhp 2.0tdi. Its loosing coolant, mostly during dpf regens or hard driving. I have checked oil level, oil cap and everything seems ok, car performs flawlessly and i just cant find where the coolant is going. I can go a while without loosing any coolant and then at some point the level drops.. Had to top it up a few times... Any idea?
ОтветитьI can hear pressure leaking from my connectors is that bad ?
ОтветитьHi watching this video in 2024 from South africa I'm working on a golf7 gti the temperature goes up to 130 when pressing down on the gas and a warning saying coolant level sensor range performance
ОтветитьBut you don't address the cap as how do know when it goes bad the most prevalent thing that goes bad, I'm sick of all these incomplete so- called car expert genuis leaving out the most important issue when the things about the bottle is visually 👀
ОтветитьThanks for the video, do you have a video flushing coolant through de vent line of the coolant reservoir? for audi Q7, Touareg, Porsche?
ОтветитьWhy is my coolant evaporating on my VW CC a day before I had filled the coolant level where it’s supposed to be I took a hour drive and my coolant light came on I had opened the coolant reservoir and my coolant seemed it was being flushed away like gulping away like when you take a drink out a water bottle, and my coolant levels where dropping , does anyone know what could be the issue??
ОтветитьMy girls failed in her 2012 jetta but it failed where the wires wrap around between heat and rubbing it wore through the bottle and caused a slow leak .. the light came on and I started looking at it and replaced it woth a Dorman replacement for now. Been checking on it on the Dorman connection it's ever so slightly non preferable as it has less of a lip for the connector to grab on too
ОтветитьHi, might be worthwhile updating this video. Many newer vw/audi/skoda/seat, have a marking on the bottle ' Mit Silicat', german for with silica. This means it contains a small pouch of silica, in the bottle. these pouches have been known to fail, and clog up the cooling system, especially badly affected is the heater matrix. To avoid this, I removed the pouch, flushed the system and filled it with the correct mix of vw evo 12 coolant, to ensure the coolant retains the correct anti corrosive propertie.Keep the videos coming, I find them really helpful!
ОтветитьI had a couple Volksagens that used a round one just like that. There must be minor differences like the cap and bolt hole locations. Over the years the cap is one change that is easy to see since the color and style changes but they all look interchangeable otherwise but probably are not.
ОтветитьThat thing with the wires being covered with coolant. I would assume that changing the coolant on time could help prevent that? It does turn acidic with age. Please don't think of it as just water. It is more like highly toxic water that is a mix of different chemicals. Also I imagine that some water pumps could be saved if it is changed on time since the coolant also lubricates better than water does on its own.
ОтветитьHello my VW Touran 2004 2.0 fsi petrol is not overheating but the low coolant light comes on after about an hour of driving the car and when I go check the bottle the coolant is gone but if I gently release the coolant cap the water will then come back but last a little while till it does the same thing again, I have recently changed the thermostat housing as I thought it might be that but I am still getting the same problem there is no oil in the water and no water in the oil. I have tried running the car without the cap idling for about 45mins and it gets to temperature and then starts overflowing the coolant, but doesn't seem to calm down as it would if it was air locked, do you have any advice please....? just to confirm the car never overheats and stays at normal temperature
ОтветитьWorking on a 2005 Jetta GLS with a 2.0 and replacing the coolant bottle after it started breaking down and leaving chunks in the reservoir. Found it while doing a flush with water.
Ответитьi noticed some debris in the tank. i need to empty it and take it out to see what it is. but i wonder which parts can come into this tank? i guess i can see when i removed it. are there known cases?
ОтветитьI own a stage 3 VW that keeps going through radiators every 4 months or so. I'm carefully installing them and tape cardboard to the fins so they dont get poked on install...
The car has aftermarket cooling fans. I used 2 relays and put them on switches... It has polar fis and I manually switch the fan on if it reaches 190° or so. I don't use AC. It throws a code for the cooling fans and AC. I want to code them out if possible but really need to figure out why my radiators keep failing.
My best guess is an electrolysis issue but I cant find a vw video on this topic. Have you dealt with this before?
The other thing to do is to remove the rubber seal on the connector so the coolant has a better chance of leaking out rather than being pressure forced through the wiring harness.
ОтветитьAlso the SILICA bag inside the expansion bottle can be a problem when they go so I'd personally get the expansion bottle without the SILICA bag. Have you ever seen a SILICA bag brake and needed to flush the coolant and heater matrix??
Ответитьin my case, the return pipe was broken AND almost blocked! changed the coolant bottle and now it's alright! Tho the old one was with both lines - MIN and MAX level under the middle of the bottle, while the new one, that I put in the car have the MAX line above the middle of the bottle... So when I fill it to the MAX line, it turns out it's overfilled and the coolant starts to leak through the pipe that's at the back of the bootle (which is intended for that exact purpose), untill it reaches a point when it's not overfilled anymore (around the old MAX line)...
ОтветитьWe used to pressure test the radiator cap to verify it holds pressure. For VW I think it's 20 psi. Without a pressure tester. turn off the car and feel the (hot!) radiator hose to see if it' stays hard. After engine cools feel hose again and opening the radiator cap should relieve pressure.
Ответитьaftermarket reservoirs won't fit sensor port. You have to remove quarter inch off, of the plastic male end of aftermarket reservoirs. So, sensor can go down enough to meet pins. Game over got rid of idiot light on dash.
Ответитьthanks much appreciated
ОтветитьI’ve got a problem with the hoses pressurising coolent liking through the bottle cap. I’ve changed bottle and cap intercooler water pump checked radiator thermostat. Can’t not find the problem spend a lot of money can’t not find the problem. Also done sniff test no gases detected. Amy one had this problem that can’t give me any idea what to look for. Many thanks
Ответить"in a vehicle" ?!?
VW ain't no regular vehicle, even if you're proficient at replacing entire looms in other vehicles, a VW is a whole different beast....
Take this as a word of warning
I had gunk built up inside mine and it was tricking the sensor inside to not trigger the warning light. I had no coolant in it and had been running low for a while. Didn’t know because there was no warning light. Visually inspect your parts!
ОтветитьMy EA888 Audi has the same issue with the electrical connection however it isn’t coolant that pooled up at the connector, it was moreso condensation/water, luckily I caught it in time. Same thing happens with the cam magnet phasers, engine oil can leak into the electrical connection.
