This was 20 years ago when it happened then damn im 15 now and was 4 when this was uploaded😅
ОтветитьNothing to be embarrassed about, we all have anxiety, some like yours and mine 💪
ОтветитьAww
ОтветитьHe's so beautiful and cute
ОтветитьI feel this guys pain
ОтветитьU call that embarrassing? I could barely tell anything was wrong
ОтветитьBro handled it amazingly 🤙🏽
ОтветитьHaving a panic attack is NOT EMBARRASSING!
Its a feeling that we go through and should NEVER be ashemed of.
Been dealing with it since 3 years
Mine happened in traffic in the middle of a left turn at a light on a busy intersection right in front of a truck coming my way.
ОтветитьImportant context: Dan Harris’ panic attack was caused by cocaine abuse.
ОтветитьI've had this too... its not your fault...its a feedback loop in the amygdula that hijacks...and the physical sensations become too strong to ingore..mistaking Way your mind which now creates new fear as you realize you need to perform your work and cannot. Its ok. Love is all that matters. You're a great guy for doing this segment.
ОтветитьI've seen my dad have panic attacks often. It was like a bomb was going to explode. The overwhelming fear and anxiety made it almost impossible get through to him in those moments. I'd never seen a man with a worse inner voice. He's doing a lot better now, but since I inherited his anxiety, now I'm the one getting panic attacks.
ОтветитьI have panic disorder I understand
ОтветитьWhere to find the full unedited video?!
ОтветитьAnxiety destroyed my life - then I destroyed my health self medicating with alcohol
It’s nasty condition
A trap - the fear - is all consuming 😰
Damn you were so fine!! 🥵
ОтветитьThat wasn’t embarrassing at all.
ОтветитьThe worst panic attack I ever had came when I was flying an airplane by myself, of all things. I only say “worst” because of the situation and not the severity. This was somewhat early in my flight training when I was soloing (which is self-explanatory…but you need to fly by yourself for a certain number of hours before they’ll give you your license). I had just gotten up to cruise so I had a minute to stop and think when my brain suddenly went “?!?!”. I think the thing that started it rolling and exacerbated it was that I knew I could NOT just stop, get out and compose myself. When you’re flying in an airplane, there’s no “quick way” out of anything. It passed within moments because I’m pretty even keeled and I just don’t get many panic attacks (I’ve had maybe three or four in my entire life…always during “down time” when I’m not busy with something). But it was the situation that rattled me. If you lose your cool up there, it’s NOT a good thing. I went on to get my license and it hasn’t happened since but I’ve put a LOT of thought into it and I’ve developed some mechanisms for which I know I can get it under control if it ever happens again. Part of operating expensive, high speed, high energy machinery is having a plan A, B and C for any situation that might come up. This isn’t one I had counted on but now I know that it’s a possibility and even though I don’t think it’ll ever happen again, I’m prepared just in case.
ОтветитьI remember watching him lose it on national television & I felt so bad for him. I'm glad he's found a solution.
ОтветитьDan Harris is one of my favorite tv personalities. Favorite journalists; favorite newscasters. I had such a crush on him. I didn’t know of this panic attack until today, when I saw an IG post from him that had me googling him. So, this makes me love him even more. I recently joined IG and am so glad I came across Dan Harris’ 10% Happier page.
Having panic attacks doesn’t mean you’re weak. But surviving one in front of the world shows how strong you are. Sharing your strength and insights with the world, after, shows how loving and generous you are. ❤️🤗
To go through that pain and humiliation on live TV, come back later and keep going, and be able to address it and talk about what happened on TV to help others must’ve taken loads of courage. This guy is a hero.
ОтветитьHe did an amazing job covering it up with smooth professionalism. Smoother than anyone i know.
ОтветитьKarma after Paris Hilton
ОтветитьDude is more put together during a panic attack than I am ordering McDonald’s while trying to choose between the number seven or the number eight
ОтветитьHe is so cute. ❤
ОтветитьMy solution become an alcoholic.
ОтветитьI'm seeing this ten years later. It's a shame that it is even embarrassing to do real life in public space when you have a public job and something ordinary happens. I believe it's ordinary among 5 million plus people, but we are socialized to hide and pretend otherwise. The hiding produces fear and panic because others will see our vulnerable humanity. That fear may or may not lead to self medication, which leads to later issues, psychosocial, and more. AND that's unfortunate because having to hide produces shame, and shame can lend itself to so many other issues. I'm glad ABC didn't mistreat your panic attack and let you go. Life happens a day at a time, in the moment, and sometimes real life happens in public spaces. I dare say it's an opportunity for us to be compassionate and practice compassion. I hope that we are growing as a nation of compassionate citizens. People panic, and it's ok. Soothe them. Don't normalize shame.
ОтветитьMichael Bay
ОтветитьI can relate
ОтветитьFair play to the guy. I hope he's still doing ok 👍
It's something we all deal with on some level because you're not the only one who sometimes finds themselves staring into the abyss.
Everyone has it, everyone does it at some time.
Those times they come and go but they're always a part of being human.
Especially in the insane society most of us have to live in.
Thats nothing to be embaressed.
It is understandable.
That was literally me when doing a school report 😩
ОтветитьPanic attacks are scary, my doctor said they can feel very similar to a heart attack. Whenever I get them, Idk why my first instinct was to always lay down somewhere & just ride it out. I'd have a bad headache after but something about overcoming life's hurdles, whether big or small, is such a good feeling.
ОтветитьIt's actually not embarrassing to watch but more triggering especially if you know what that feels like ,,, like this comment if you get super dizzy right before or during a panic attack
ОтветитьLoved your book! 10% Happier! You are brave and have used this to help a lot of people - including me.
ОтветитьI began to have panic attacks, when I would be in a airplane, like my brain had no oxygen I felt like I was going to pass out! Drinking cold water would help me, later on I was like I've never had this bf ! The triggered it was when I was having lasik for my eyes, I was terrified not knowing the outcome, the Doctor never told me to take the pill to relax me,so I'd suffer all the way thru the surgery ,and that's how I finally figured it out! What has help me is reading the holy Bible physical exercise and breathing exercises too!.
Ответить"This is me 10 years ago" and here I am watching this 10 year old video
Ответить😂😂 same 😅
ОтветитьI’ve had several panic attacks one on a plane about to take off. It’s the worst thing you can experience because you can’t control it when it comes on. I haven’t had one in a long time but I hope if I have one again I can control it. Talking to people when I’ve had them helps me to calm down and I’ve helped other people try to focus on talking to them during that panic attack.
ОтветитьAnd at least you humbled yourself to talk about it. Many of us have fallen to addiction too takes a strong person to admit it and stop it. God bless and kudos to you
ОтветитьAnxiety is awful, it's like you wanna run away from yourself and can't. When I learned to meditate that all stopped.
ОтветитьAs someone with panic disorder its not living life...pure misery
ОтветитьYou could tell he was having a panic attack but he handled it excellently in the moment
ОтветитьIf youve never had one, you have absolutely no idea.
ОтветитьThe way this is framed is absolutely insane.
There is NOTHING embarrassing WHATSOEVER about an uncontrollable involuntary bodily response to your body flooding itself with adrenaline when you least expect it.
I legitimately can’t stress this enough. If ANYONE ever makes you feel differently, write them out of your life without hesitation.
A panic attack is essentially ‘dying’ without crossing over to the other side. It’s every sensation and feeling leading up to that point, but without a ‘release’.
To call that “humiliating” or “embarrassing” is so grossly disingenuous that it borders on idiocy.
That's scary that somebody could have a panic attack that easily.I don't want that running my country
ОтветитьYup. Once the anxiety attack kicks in, it's awful. You can't really control it. You just don't want to be in that place you're in that moment. I've seen his hard breathing and how he shakes. He might look just nervous. But in his mind there was pure hell.
Ответитьgeez dianne you seem happy to say he had panic attack..weird!
ОтветитьWow I am surprised Disney is allowing ABC to say this on the News. Because I cannot find it anywhere. But a few places !
Ответить
