This is actually the tune REGENT SQUARE, popular with both "God of grace and God of glory" and "Angels from the realms of glory."

Damn, there were a lot of black folk there that day.

I LOVW ALL THESE CEREMONIES

I've noticed from all of these videos just how low church they are in the C of E. No incense, no bowing to the processional cross from anyone. No genuflecting. (They might as well be southern baptists by their behaviour!) Do they even bless themselves when the Trinity is spoken? I had no idea they were so low church, including the Royal Family (of all people!). I mean, the Queen is the head of the Church along with the Archbishop of Canterbury. What makes the liturgy feel higher is the music, with superb organ playing, the glorious descants and the state trumpeters. Another odd thing is that some of the women curtsy to the Queen and the men nod or bow their head briefly to the Queen in procession, yet the same people do not bow to the processional cross. It's as if they have more respect and reverence for the Queen than they do the cross and The Holy Trinity. We were taught in Anglican Confirmation Class that one bows to the processional crosses and at other times in the liturgy. I see none of that here.

I believe this was The Duke of Edinburgh’s final procession.

Wow this was beautiful. I’m not familiar with this one. I know the tune but as Angels From the Realms of Glory, a Christmas hymn.

They should have played the tune “Westminster abbey” instead of regent square.

The final verse of these hymns are just spectacular - organ (commanding), brass, vocal range. I would love to be there during such hymns to first hear, then sing. Wow!

Westminster Abbey (or the Collegiate Church of St Peter, Westminster to give it its correct title) is a "Royal Peculiar" under the jurisdiction of a Dean and Chapter, subject only to the Sovereign and not to any archbishop or bishop. In other words, the King or Queen calls the shots, not some lowly archbishop. 🙂
