Immigrants appreciate the United States more than most Americans.
ОтветитьWhat was the reaction at the beginning? What was he reacting to?
ОтветитьElias was only six years younger than my great grandfather.
ОтветитьMy Jewish great grandfather came here one year layer in 1922.
ОтветитьAmazing
ОтветитьMan I love this man❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
ОтветитьLOVE YOU BERNIE 💗 GLAD YOU FOUND THIS OUT ABOUT YOU'RE FAMILY
ОтветитьSo he's a 2th generation usa?
Pharrell Williams is like 10th
Before he became Elias Sanders, he was Elye (Eliyahu) Gitman, the son of Yehuda, born in Stopnica, Galicia (by then, under the hegemony of the Imperial Russia). On May 26, 1921, he made his way to Antwerp, Belgium and boarded the SS Lapland, which brought him to New York City on June 5, 1921. There he joined his maternal uncle, Abraham Louis Horn, in Brooklyn. How he got Sanders from Gitman is another story.
ОтветитьI would love to actually meet Bernie. He is such a gentleman and genuinely an amazing soul. I wish he would’ve been our President.
ОтветитьNice to hear Bernie laugh.
ОтветитьHe is a great person so humble
ОтветитьMy great grandpa was captured by Russians in Galicia during WW1 when he served in the army. He had to walk back home from Siberia on his feet.
ОтветитьBernie's family and my family are from the same place
ОтветитьLove Bernie!
ОтветитьBernie is such a wonderful human being.💗
ОтветитьLuv you Bernie ✌️😎
ОтветитьI love Bernie🥰
ОтветитьI love you, Senator.
ОтветитьOye vey!

ОтветитьI love Finding Your Roots so much! And Henry Louis Gates Jr. is the icing on the cake! 💗
ОтветитьGalicia is a part of former Poland occupied in the partitions of Poland by 3 invaders. This part was taken over by Austria-Hungary. In Galicia, there was the largest Jewish diaspora in Poland.
ОтветитьThe commentator says stupidity. The Jews in this region were mainly farmers and small traders, immediately after the war there was a terrible famine not only among Jews but also Poles, and the testimony of this time is described by the later French president in letters to his mother - DeGoul. What nationalism of Poles he talks about - Poles were rebuilding Poland after 200 years of captivity. Jews, even though they lived in Poland, lived in their enclaves and could live their whole lives without knowing the Polish language - you can imagine, they excluded themselves from integration with Poland. But the narrative does not surprise me, it would be strange otherwise. They lived in Poland for 1000 years, obtaining shelter from persecution throughout Europe, from the Inquisition and they continue to slander Poles. And be good to others here.
ОтветитьI love Bernie
ОтветитьThank you Bernie for all that you stand up for and give your energy to.
ОтветитьMen of old didn't talk much about anything. Where they came from, what they had done, or how they felt. Still true to a certain degree, and worse if trauma was involved.
ОтветитьHuh, I wonder what criteria they use to pick guests on this program....hmmmmm
Ответить👍🔥😎🔥👍
ОтветитьWhat’s wrong with flag waving? So many died for that flag mr. Sanders! I get what you were trying to say, but there’s nothing wrong with being a flag waving patriot! My parents, and husbands parents were immigrants too. My husband served this country for over 35 years, and every time he sees a flag, he still salutes it!!
Ответить❤
ОтветитьElias emigrated at the age of 16 and built a life in the US. I think that says it all.
ОтветитьGod Bless you Bernie 💚🙏💜
ОтветитьHow do African Americans live in that very same environment? That’s a very great question that’s why we love you, Mr. Bernie Sanders!
ОтветитьThis was wonderful.
ОтветитьMy great grandparents were German, however they emigrated from Austro-Hungary in the early 1900's. Though I know much about their lives after coming to America, I knew nothing about their lives before. Thanks for the glimpse into the possible troubles which brought them here.
ОтветитьMy great uncle immigrated from Budapest Hungary @16 to the US around the same time he never spoke about the painful past
ОтветитьWonderful!
ОтветитьWow!
ОтветитьSo who was he related to?
ОтветитьBless you Senator Sanders
ОтветитьWow this one actually hit me hard!!! Thank You for sharing ♥️🙏🏻♥️
Ответить💗💗
ОтветитьIf he had known all this sooner, maybe Bernie would have had a better outlook towards the Jews!
ОтветитьThis was so cool. Bernie’s father would be so proud of his son
ОтветитьI love this man so much.
ОтветитьThis man has taught me so much in my life. Its really a shame he is not appreciated in his own country. Its almost emotional when you study how this man almost gave away his entire life for his message.
ОтветитьI’m part Russian/Polish, I saw that on a naturalization card that one of my great great grandparents was from Galacia! They immigrated here I believe in 1905 or around that time
