I try to make sure that only one goggle is in the water-and i try to keep my head down like I’m looking
for something at the bottom of the pool-and my body feels like it’s all aligned with the water which stops my head from lifting and causing neck pain

Four strokes for one breath allows for a swimmer to see only one side of the pool whereas breathing after 3 strokes allow for eye sight on both sides of the swimmer.

Ideally you keep half of your face in the water when you swim freestyle. So I am kind of confused why you say that you breath when the entire face is out of the water. Technically not what one wants.

I'm 55. I started learning swimming from April 24. It took almost three months to take side Breathing. Next problem is exhaustion. I use to go 5 to 10m in one go. Then the length increased gradually. In November 24 I am able to swim 37m in one go. My target for 2024 is to swim 50m in one go without break.
