Figures released by The End Child Poverty Coalition show that in Thanet, Kent one third of children live in homes where the income is 60 percent below the national average.

In this recording of a BBC Radio Kent interview, presenter Anna Cookson talks to Labour Kent County Councillor, Karen Constantine about the 'left behind' neighbourhoods.

Karen tells of families going without food as the crisis grows. Benefits, in real terms, are at an historic low, whilst child poverty rates climb. Her worry is about a future generation blighted by the effects of poverty, where today's kids grow up with poor health and limited opportunities.
