The History of Godzilla: Final Wars (2004)

I've been watching this one quite often lately, amazing job with this series. Though I think you forgot to talk about this movie's international release, as all the previous videos brought this up.

This has always been my favorite Godzilla movie and probably always will be. Plus I always loved track 46 - Ending.

Clearly they werent being creative enough with that excuse about Jet Jaguar.

Either

a. Have the Gotengo transform into Jet Jaguar; or

b. Have the protag guy be a cyborg or android instead of whatever a "kaiser" is and have him be a new incarceration of the character.

On another note, in universe, I don't really understand how they have monster toys. It would be like 21st century kids having Osama Bin Laden or Vladamir Putin action figures.

I watched every movie ever made and, objectively, Godzilla: Final Wars is the best one. Go figure.

Ngl a kojima mindfuck Godzilla film sounds like peak cinema.

Even a bad Godzilla movie is still a Godzilla movie, except for TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA IGUANA from 1998. That one is a Godzilla movie in TITLE CARD in name only. They keep making them, I'll keep seeing them. And, I'm sure you're going to cover this next point when you get to your videos on them, but, SHIN GODZILLA and GODZILLA MINUS ONE proved that a Godzilla can make a profit, or in this case, a VERY BIG profit. Though, it doesn't just depend on a strong story and well written characters, but also the timing of when they're released, as I think the reason some of these films didn't do so well at the box office is that they were released against major tent pole movies that they don't have a chance against.

Not a super huge fan of this movie as a Godzilla movie but it’s just so 2000s you can’t help but have a good time.

I actually really like the music from the ending. Is it just me? This has to be you one of my favorite Godzilla movies purely because of all the memories that it brings back off when I was young, as well as all the other ones, but this one has special place because all of the monster action scenes and when I was younger, that’s all I cared about

The funny thing about this movie was I had grown up watching all of the original like older ones and then this came out when I was like seven and I just absolutely loved it

I think Godzilla and Anguirus share words in this movie because they’re still meant to be friends, but Anguirus is mind-controlled and therefore Godzilla would be confused by his behavior.

Ever since moving to The USA I was deprived of Godzilla, I bought the DVD and as campy as it is, I loved it. Also my DVD had the Final Fantasy Advent Children Trailer 😂😂😂

Out of all the Big G movies I’ve enjoyed the human story the most in this one. Didn’t like the monster fights though. Maybe I would’ve if I was younger.

jet jaguar(for as convoluted it was like him in singular point) would've been cool to see with kanzaki transforming into it/being created as a failsafe for the mutants with him using his awakened kaizer power with the knife to power it.

i love this movie as it is a good celebration of the king of the monsters(kinda like a godzilla version of sonic generations mixed with destroy all monsters/adaptation of the pipeworks games.) & nice farewell until his renaissance in reiwa and loved the fun the movie had with itself like the callbacks,don frye in general(pretty much mike haggar vs godzilla since he played him in the final fight fan film.),the xilliens leader going nuts with each defeat and godzilla mostly going after the monsters just to get payback on the gotenga with him sparing his allies king caesar,anguirus(hope we see him in the monsterverse outside cameos as that godzilla needs a friend like him.) and rodan likely holding back/playing around knowing they weren't themselves(do wish we saw them help godzilla & mothra at the end) ,nice to see the hospital girl from gmk alright,actually thought minilla was surprisingly funny with the boy and his grandpa,loved toho giving the biggest flip to zilla getting absolutely wrecked and ending on godzilla forgiving humanity like tokyo s.o.s showing in ways the millenium era had flaws but also had a style and ideas of it's own i wouldn't mind seeing come back.

only problem i had with this version of godzilla's power(compared to how broken earth was can honestly see heisei/showa in areas handle most of the kaiju) was the defeat of hedorah considering he's the most dangerous of godzilla's enemies even more than ghidorah(that the short at least made up for/makes me want to see godzilla films with suit actors again with how good it was.:3),think the matrix/star wars elements were the weakest parts(would take over how bad megaguiras human plot was outside one moment.) that could've been cut to give more time to other kaiju,

had mothra be in the movie longer(do like we see her survive at the end.)/have the foreshadowing of gigan(would've had hedorah appearing in gigan's 1st scene with how incompetent he is badass design aside especially the laser eyes and chainsaw hands.) with the priestesses happen a little later and instead of dying on the ship would've liked if the xillien leader took control of monster x to turn him into kaiser ghidorah(like maybe his spirit possesses him like a evil version of gmk.)/it had been a follow up to tokyo s.o.s(like the xilean commander taking the kaiju dna leading to them rampaging.).

i always liked this movie, even when it was still the last released godzilla film. the fight scenes are quick, but they're so numerous. even the human scenes are entertaining thanks to the action, and the banter. it wasn't the first godzilla movie I saw, but it has a special place in my heart being one of the earliest

I'm in the "love it" camp. Because it's... well, so campy! Nothing seems to be taking itself too seriously. From the one true Godzilla (or "shin" in Japanese :P ) doing away with "Zilla" in a mere seconds by slamming him into that over-sized tissue box those stuck-up Sydneysiders always go one about. To the mardi-gras worthy camp of the matrixified villains. To having a pro wrestler, or martial artist or whatever the hell else he is, commanding the uber ship. You could finish buckets of popcorn watching this. Or gallons of alcoholic beverages. And have a brilliant time!

I would LOVE to see the Kitamura Cut. God, imagine a 4 hour long Final Wars with the same pacing, just non stop action and fights and lasers, SO MANY LASERS. God I need this more than breathing

I never realized it before but this movie is a reimagine of the annunaki Sumerian creation story. Planet X (as nasa calls it or nibiru) mutants (igigi, humanoid mutant spaces used by the annunaki as slaves) all the different monsters could represent the different hybrid animals and what we’d call mythical beasts that were allegedly genetically engendered to exist. The flying ship topenga looks like the depictions of their craft from the human perspective.
