Also, whatever educational value it might have is lessened by the names being in German. Maybe there's an English version, but that means that they would have to make a version for every language in order for it to be properly "educational." That may seem like a pretty minor problem for the creators, but historical/cultural education value is the only excuse I can see for playing this game at all. The gameplay itself doesn't really seem worth the time.
Also, as Tom pointed out, the fact that the ruling goddess has 0 special value unless paired with the ruling god isn't just a problem of perceived sexism, it really doesn't make sense within the mythological frameworks themselves. Hera was still someone the other gods and godesses didn't want to tick off whether Zeus got involved or not. These were not super-egalitarian cultures that created these mythologies, but they still tended to expect the queen of the pantheon to be able to hold her own even if her husband wasn't around. To [b]e fair, I'm not going to go off and accuse the designers and publishers of being sexists or something based on a silly card game. Most likely this was just a clumsily-designed mechanism that only comes across as sexist after the fact. Judging games, like most things, doesn't require judging the inner character of human beings. I just wanted to point out the historical/religious discrepancy as that's my area of interest. I think Tom handled it succinctly and fairly.

I don't understand why a Japanese designer and publisher would print a game in German. If it's solely for Germany fine but wow you're limiting your market. Print it in the universal language of English and the world is your market.

As for the blatant sexism, it just seems like a stupid rule instead of some evil rule of the so-called Patriarchy. People need to stop being so damned thin-skinned.
