I feel so much closer to you guys! Lol Jess was throwing handssss ✋🏾 😂 love you guys!!!!
ОтветитьThis was so relatable it’s funny I was a preacher kid too and have some of the same experiences including getting baptized at 8/9. I did it all in the church and the pressure was real!!!!
ОтветитьNot a Christian, not a young person, but enjoyed this PODCAST 👌🏽 ❤
Ответить❤❤
ОтветитьThis is so refreshing to hear. I’m not a PK lol but we were very involved. Church Sundays, Tuesdays, choir practice Wednesdays, bible study Thursday. Like I’m a kid, I wanna have fun, Sunday enough for me😭 I’m a believer, but I haven’t consistently been to a church since I got out of high school & I’m in my mid 20’s. It’s hard for me since it was pushed on me as a child & I never understood the reasoning of why we had to go so many days out the week. I really wanna get back into it & find a church home, but I’m struggling especially now since I’m in nursing school & my nose stay in those books, but I also want to learn how to understand the Bible & be more in touch with God.
ОтветитьOmgggg thank you for this. I am a PK also. It’s so much pressure
ОтветитьYeah, I can see Michael B Jordan, but not the other 2 you named.
ОтветитьLove listening to these two beautiful wise souls💚✨️
ОтветитьJess, the way Jonathan openly encourages you to speak and live in your truth, without shame or judgment… I can only imagine his covering behind closed doors. 🙏🏽
I’m not sure if it’s part of the “black/caribbean church culture” but I’m sure many of us share the same stories. The common denominator is often the hyper focus on shaming/denouncing someone who has sinned. I know it’s pushed a lot of people away from the physical building of church (I’m sure it also happens in other cultures as well). I think one of the most important things we can learn, practice and share is the importance of cultivating a personal relationship with God. When all else is stripped away, God is still in the midst.
Preach, Jonathan!
ОтветитьYeessss... you betta talk about salvation!! The doors of the church are open, lol.
ОтветитьI'm pretty sure he looks like all of their lost brother.
ОтветитьI feel so seen 😭💜 lol
ОтветитьIts so ...whats the word, refreshing. Love the podcast because it's very genuine what you guys are trying to do. I grew up with Caribbean parents and churchy, i wish i had a podcast like this when i was younger. 😊 great job Jess. Good pivot with where to go next with your platform
ОтветитьI enjoyed this conversation! SN: Your husband speaking Potwa👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
ОтветитьPK here and I understand all of this!
ОтветитьIt is a commandant and sex outside of marriage is adultery. All of these topics are great that you guys are doing! Honestly when people see young adults living for God it inspires the youth and older adults to do the same😊
ОтветитьJonathan. That somebody was me. Thanks for that.
You hear it all the time but how you said it, and the song that was referenced, it connected. God bless you guys.
😂 Jonathan made me feel so old not knowing who Marques Houston was/is!
ОтветитьWould love to hear a deep dive on how Jonathan overcame his addiction and what he does today to remain clear of that.
Ответить😂 i wasn't allowed to watch Pokémon or Harry Potter either growing up and never understood whyyyyy 😅
ОтветитьThis was a great conversation. I am glad you guys shared your experiences. Many of us have the same experiences. Thanks for sharing. Keep up with the podcast
ОтветитьI just turned 49 yrs old this month and the message of forgiveness is so necessary and I receive that message and I thank God for using you as a vessel for me to hear and receive this message. I've heard it before but I truly get it today so thank you so much. I love this podcast and beautiful couple. God's continual blessings over your lives. Thank you so much. Much love ❤
ОтветитьHe looks like Columbus Short to me 🤭
ОтветитьHe’s a blend of all three!
ОтветитьWhat re the details on this wig!
ОтветитьYou know you grew up in church when you already know what “big church” means. 😂
Ответить🥰❤❤❤
ОтветитьAs a fellow preachers kid do you suggest leaving your family to find God for yourself and to also get away from the pressures of being the "pastor's kid" or is that just running away from the problem instead of facing them
ОтветитьJon and Jess, the cutest couple out here. Young, gifted and black.
ОтветитьI really enjoy this video.
ОтветитьWhat tf he don’t look like none of them
ОтветитьJust don’t wear leggings if U wanna put Ur hands in front
ОтветитьEverybody’s rushing to get married what tf is so important boutta getting married. Not me
ОтветитьI got rebaptized and I did it for me personally it was so divine
ОтветитьJess you are so blessed to have a man who can join you in your career and with so much charisma. I love it and love y’all ❤ I’m loving the podcast. Just doing my nails and hair listening to y’all 😂
ОтветитьGreat PodCast! I’m 56yo. My kids are your age. I have 3 girls. My hubby and I read a book to them called “What’s Happening To My Body” at age 8 of the eldest. The younger 2 were 7 and 5. We always keep an open door policy in our house. Every family is different but that worked for us.
ОтветитьWhile I’m not a PK, my father was. My Grandfather was an Episcopal/Anglican Priest who came to America with my dad. I went to religious based school from K-College. I get it.
ОтветитьI'm not a PK but as someone who got baptized at a young age ... when I really think about it shame is the main reason I fell off my walk... I felt so dirty and broken to the point where I believed God could never love someone like me ... because of an experience like that I think if the churches have a safe space for young people there's so much we don't have go through or experience just to understand the why.
ОтветитьMy very first thought when I clicked on the last video I saw from you all was that the husband looks like mbj 😂
ОтветитьTo add: My mother gave me the “talk” when I was really young. Like before I even got to kindergarten. Started off with basic anatomy and biology. She framed it like “God made us this way…” (talked about the body/biology/reproduction). “In God’s word, there are several places where you we are told to…”(she then talked about keeping a healthy ‘temple” and how it hurts our “spirit man” when we don’t keep the promises we made to ourselves). She then told me how to identify and run from predators who tried to take our choice away. She ended by saying don’t ever hesitate to come her with anything because her (and my dad’s) god-given job was to protect us from people who who were bad guys.
And I was just looking like: “okay, mommy. Good touch bad touch. 😊🥹”.
I’m also a pk for reference 😂
This was soooo good!! Great conversation! And much needed advice for children! Come on Youth Pastor!! 🙌🏽🙏🏽👏🏽
ОтветитьGenesis 2 and 3 When Adam and Eve ate the fruit sin and shame came in and they had to cover themselves. It is VITAL to read the bible and ask God to give the understanding of what is on the pages. Being Born Again is a gift from God and it only comes from God. Being Baptized doesnt mean we are saved. Read read read read read the bible. Read Rev 12:9... Very important!
ОтветитьBruhhhh we couldn't watch Harry Potter, Pokémon, BET (except Bobby Jones gospel), MTV, and we weren't even preachers kids 😂😂😂 I'm grateful for it now, though!
ОтветитьY’all are hilarious together 😂 And You two do have a Podcast. A Good One…Luv the transparency 💜
ОтветитьHonestly the imitation of Caribbean parents took me out 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ответить
