Roughly the size of Manhattan... Everything is bigger in Texas
ОтветитьDelta Airlines Flight 191 was playing Flight Simulator
ОтветитьThere is no such thing as an air pocket, Pilot Small:
(We call those "microbursts" now.)
A moment of silence to these pilots that did what they could to save the lives that were sadly lost.
Ответить"smoking saved my life" how ironic.
ОтветитьSafest plane in the world? They were terrible planes. I started flying for Eastern at the beginning of 1973. As a new flight attendant that was the plane I flew. Every single trip we had mechanicals on the planes. Every flight was late and something was always broken.
You would have lengthy delays and very very angry passengers. We flew from aAtlanta to many cities on the west coast. Believe me, flying trip after trip with angry passengers was so stressful. When I could I
Always worked in the belly of the plane, cooking the food and sending the carts up in the elevators. That way I dint have to listen to all the very angry people.
Personally, I hated that plane!! When we got the A-300’s, I moved over and never looked back at that terrible plane!
Bravo, to the controller who HAD to eat in the middle of a dangerous weather situation.
He had to fill that belly up! What a loser! But, is belly was packed full!
it is very impressive how this series can blend historical footage was well as make very realistic settings to show the various stages of the disaster and the forensic analysis..
ОтветитьAmerican 191 Delta 191
ОтветитьThey keep creating fake natural phenomenas to save Boeing ass as always unfortunately
ОтветитьAugust 1985 was the deadliest month in aviation history.
ОтветитьFound out today from my grandmother (retired IBM employee) she lost a good friend on this flight, whom also worked for IBM at the time, Jean Hancock. As soon as I my grandmother shared this with me I immediately came to this channel to find this video. I had to know what caused this particular crash.
ОтветитьIt is rare that these investigations pretty much rule that no one was at fault. This seems to be a rare case where nature and physics just had the final say….
ОтветитьI'm wondering had they not change course and go straight into the storm cell instead of going around it, they would've been ok. Even the course change, they were still in the storm so it didn't make a difference.
ОтветитьMy dad worked for Delta at the time of this accident. I was 12 & flew right after this flight. The front half of the plane was deserted, because people wanted to sit in the back of the plane. I was the only passenger in first class. I’ve always thought it odd that people would think that a plane would crash exactly the same way twice, but I also can’t say I blamed them.
ОтветитьI was going to Braniff Air for my A&P licence at the time the VW bug was squashed & it was horrible how many autos raided the dead & dying during rush hour!
ОтветитьSo smoking was allowed back then?
ОтветитьThis show and series is nothing short of greatness. Truly great.
ОтветитьI remember when this happened. I was in the navy, I was sent by my submarine to San Diego for school. I found out when I got back to the barracks after my last class for the week.
ОтветитьI was flying into Charlotte one time and we circled the city until the pilot said that we were on fumes and he had to land, on the way down we hit a microburst and we dropped like 500 feet in five seconds if that, it was the most terrifying moment of my life 😂
Ответить“Roughly the size of manhattan “ bro this Australian has never been to dfw 😂😂 I go back between nyc and dallas (I live in Dallas) dfw is way bigger .
ОтветитьAs usual ATC takes no responsibility imo
ОтветитьI live in Fort Worth and Hwy 114 is on my route home from work. I work very close to the airport. Luckily I was 3 years old and unemployed when this happened 😮
Ответитьthey don’t make pilots like that anymore..
Ответитьthe cvr is more horryfying than what they said
ОтветитьI he
ОтветитьThere was nothing mysterious about it, they flew in to a microburst, and were pushed into the ground. Because of this, and Pan Am 759 in MSY in 1982, wind shear detection systems were developed for airports, and on board aircraft
ОтветитьFor all those poor souls who perished, Rest in Peace, 🥀🕯until the Son of God's Voice calls them-forth from _mortal-"Sleep": --- then they will _"live again", Thank the God of Life, and the Hope He brings.
ОтветитьI once found myself in the same situation as these pilots, I simply inverted the plane then made a successful landing saving 350 people
ОтветитьMy best friend died in this crash. I still think of him. My family and still talk about him, telling the stories we remember. We were so young.
ОтветитьMy grandfather was driving me to the DFW airport. I was a teenager, heading home from a visit with my grandfather. As we approached the airport, we could see the smoke. We didn't realize that it was a plane crash, due to the storm. Just horrifying. I'll never forget it.
ОтветитьCrazy that being in the smoking section was a survival advantage!
ОтветитьMy second cousin were on this flight and his pregnant wife were on this flight and did not make it, I will never forget when this happened 🙏
Ответитьsaying as a retired ground crew worker i looked at the delta plane i tried to get footage but there was no time i told all the crew members this "THERES A CRASHED PLANE" i wasn't realizing the fall but i captured it in person where this plane crashed i ran to find someone with my flashlight i found blood and fire and dead people i didn't find anyone until i found a old man i almost lost a life but went to the water fountain with a bucket but the plane was already gone into the flames i saw the pilots laying dead and i saw the broken car too
Ответить3 Planes ✈️ That Have Crashed All Had The Number 191😮😢
This Number Has Been Since Cancelled and Not Used Anymore!
How can you avoid a microburst if it's in the path of your lift off?
ОтветитьHi mayday air disasters wen fligh 191 crasheded and the first touchdown the right gear collapsed and engine 3 hits the ground then catches fire and the front gear hit the car if I accidentally did something just ignore my comment
ОтветитьWhen using a forklift, if removing 3 pylon screws is tricky, how is it less tricky to remove the engine without the pylon by removing the few hundred smaller screws that connects the engine to the pylon?
ОтветитьI was the Insurance Adjuster for DFW and Delta in this incident. The guy who leased the field from DFW was the first person to call with a claim. DFW put me on the phone with him and I told him to Foff!
ОтветитьThank God for blessing your safety. He still has blessed things for you to do and Christians like you are loved by him!
ОтветитьA family friend was at that airport hours before it happened. She said that day she had a bad feeling in her gut and told a baggage guy. But the guy just brushed it off. Then she boared her plane. (Not 191) and headed out. When she landed she heard about the crash on the news and knew her gut feeling had come true.
ОтветитьIt is this flight that taught me to book my seat in the back of the plane. There are no guarantees, but my best odds are there.
ОтветитьDid ibm dude😅 make it?
ОтветитьNo Texan would say that the rain will “cool things down a bit.”
It doesn’t.
those pilots managed to save 30 lives ❤
ОтветитьBack in the mid 90's, I flew me and my best friend from BUR to LAS in a Piper Cherokee. The route took us over the Mojave Desert at 9,000 feet AGL. I was VFR and all of a sudden, near the Daggett VOR, the plane started decsending at a rate of almost 1,000 FPM. At first, I had no idea what the problem was as engine..all instruments appeared normal except the altimeter and VSI. I immediately turned right and the plane started climbing again. I figured it was a microburst or downdraft. As I looked back toward that area, I can see a huge cloud of desert dust rising from the desert floor.
I really hope this helps newly licensed pilots. I never saw this thing coming.
What systems were created to prevent such disassters in the future?
