I wish I was able to use that when I went to hellfest!
Nice video!
Thanks Jon, super interesting how you take it all apart and explain it. It's a big challenge to cut everything if you have recorded a good separate audio as well. But the bigger challenge is to dance through the concert with a Go Pro with confidence, you have to make fun of it, then you can enjoy the concert, right? I wish you could film Arstidir tonight in Reykjavik, I wish I was there 😊
ОтветитьThis is the good stuff!
ОтветитьWHO'S INTO METAL??
ОтветитьFantastic video JB! I’m building up my kit to do exactly this once lockdown restrictions ease. Thanks for this, very helpful!
ОтветитьWell done. I have done a number of rock concerts but in the last few weeks I have shot 12 concerts but they weren't rock. I shot them with two static cameras and two dynamic cameras. One hand held and on a tripod. Because of Covid, the ones that had audiences were a little more restricted in camera placement. The ones without audience were live streamed. I really like the idea of using an action camera for special shots. It had occurred to me to do this for a shot of the audience, but I hadn't thought of shooting the drummer - great idea. I thought it might be too hard to match, yours looks great.
ОтветитьAlthough it seems like a perfect solution to record from the mixing board, it doesn't always work. Sometimes the audio is too dry, that is, it lacks the sound of the audience and the sound of the room. Sometimes they use instruments that aren't mic'd like tambourines, maracas etc.that are not in the house mix. Sometimes, the audio is mixed by someone other than the band, at local clubs. I record the house mix and I record separately with my own mics on stage. I use a Rode NT4 going into a Sound Devices Mix Pre 3. Lastly I use high quality shotguns on my cameras, mostly for scratch audio for syncing in post and they also serve as a safety track. Redundancy is your friend.
ОтветитьMost times I get to tap into the usb on the mixer and record multitrac audio to a pc and then I mix it in Reaper afterwards, getting great audio for the video. If you rely on camera audio, make sure you choose some audio levels in your camera to reduce audio level. Better getting a quiet audio that you can pull up in Premiere, rather than getting a loud audio that is fully blown out and peaked.
