ОтветитьWhat is the meaning of the word closer?
Ответитьimpossible to confuse with Bee Gees "staying alive" song...
ОтветитьAll young men have weights on their shoulders for decades waiting for the eternal conflicts .
ОтветитьLegend
ОтветитьEspectacular
ОтветитьHe's singing about the 'soul-trap'...
ОтветитьListening to this in 1983. Anyone else?
ОтветитьHere because of James O'Barr The Crow. Great music. Great artist.
ОтветитьI think this song is about the end of world War 2, but from the point of view of the Germans.
Ответитьhow can so much pain and beauty create such a perfect match?
ОтветитьMy favourite one. The Beginning is : Its all over now baby blue. ❤😢
ОтветитьDark, hounting and tells you the truth...
ОтветитьAs you drive into Manchester from east lancs then through Salford..think I,me right..anyway...you get some tunnels just before deansgate...I had gone over from Blackburn and got lost...supposed to be picking some bits up from Trafford Park for a mini digger..anyway...I was playing this as I drove through....can,t explain...maybe someone else has.. it was GOOD...Be wrong to describe it any other way...IAN would be happy with that...anyway...found Trafford Park...scored a decent teenth from Hulme,...and got nicked haveing a tout in car...xr2 as well...all in all...one of my best errands at work I ever had...apart from being nicked....hang on...no...he let me off...threw it in bushes and told me to think hard about what I was Doing....A666 after Bolton..a laybye...might still be there...full bag on foil...ah well...thinking about it,.. havent got a clue why I had decades on...but no other track would be suitable...I have had some moments...lol

ОтветитьI bought this album in 1984 when I was in high school. I still have it. So glad I do.
ОтветитьThis song haunts me
Ответить😌 this song lifts me to another place...after decades and for ever
ОтветитьJoy Cipriano...
ОтветитьThey were the Buzzcocks support @ City Hall Newcastle, we hardly ever bothered support bands had another pint in the City Hall bar and missed them, one of my biggest regrets. Love this band, Closer Album is still my No 1 Album of all time, ethereal music sad and uplifting at the same time. Remember so well my Brother saying Ian had died, terrible loss.
Ответить44 years. Ciao Ian.
ОтветитьWhere have they been…
Ответить🏴
ОтветитьHe sang the most saddest voice 😥. Don't just listen the lyrics...
ОтветитьJoy Division is the only Cold Wave band I still like. I'm 50 yo.
There is something quite over-talented. A bit mysterious.
JD’s masterpiece, made all the more moving and poignant by placing it at the end of Closer. Both the famous lyrics and the music are unbelievably brilliant — I really can’t think of any other song by anyone that’s comparable to this. But let’s stop this nonsense that the other 3 were essentially Ian’s backing band, because they were all vital, with perhaps Bernard being the first among equals in creating that great sound and music. And then there was Martin Hammett too, yeah.
ОтветитьThis sounds like soul of mine
ОтветитьUna cancion sublime.Una para la eternidad.🌀
ОтветитьA big Thankyou to Ian and the rest of the band for this Masterpiece x angela
ОтветитьCiao Ian
ОтветитьHere are the young men with weight on their shoulders was a reference to the army surplus/charity shop clothes everyone (Bunnymen etc) were wearing
ОтветитьPara mim foram só uns piquinhos...
ОтветитьJust when you think the emotional exhaustion from this album is over and the music can't possibly get more melancholic, this track hits you like a damn knife to the heart. It's been more than 40 years since this record was released and, still, not a single song released ever since comes even close to being this bleak... specially when you put it into the context of Ian's suicide, which happened not long after recording Closer. Just damn.
ОтветитьStill... tears . 2023.
Ответитьunknown pleasures is the sound of post punk
while closer is the lyrics of it
In such stunning music like this, we understand where we all come from, we are so much more than flesh and bones ♡
ОтветитьVorrei trovare il termine adatto che renda giustizia a questo capolavoro di canzone ma perdonatemi non lo trovo nessuno rende l idea, artista meraviglioso ultraterreno e ' speciale❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
ОтветитьJOYA DE ROLA
ОтветитьGrande copertina e contenuto strepitoso.
ОтветитьThere is a young generation Z girl at work who likes the cheerful boy band One Direction and is always giggling. I intend to tell her about the exciting new boy band called "Joy Division" and that "Decades" and "In a lonely place" are songs that will cheer her up even more.

ОтветитьI'm not a lyrics person usually, but Ian was such a great lyricist
ОтветитьIn college there was a bar named Decades up the street. It was all live bands. It was 1981. Now I get it
