Jared Goff is not a problem because he had one ok game and one bad game

For some reason they aren’t using under center play action as much as they did last season. It’s mostly been from the gun which puts every receiving threat on an Island . The play calling is not helping as much as Goff is playing rusty . Their seems to be little creativity in the pass game this year

Lions just need to stick to the bread and butter. Run the ball up the field, read the defense, change if needed, and look for Jamo deep. Goff knows ball, that Charger game last year where he audibled a 75 yrd run play for Monty. Beautiful. If our offense goes back to how they were playing last season while our defense improves, SB here we come! 💪💪

They look to me like they are at a preseason game level. Additionally some new personnel that are acclimating. It's a complex game at the NFL level. Cardinals will be a strong test.

Turnovers and penalties in the red zone have been game changers. But your criticism of the incompletion to Saint Brown is absolutely correct I think. That ball should be thrown at at least half a second earlier, as Saint Brown is coming out of the break with whitehead 10 yards away. They practiced this play 100 times. Inexcusable for Goff to be that late. It's just one game and quarterbacks have bad games just like every athlete. So let's look for him to rebound. Because that quarterback play last week was flat out bad. Interception was backup level play.

Only reason you have to rely on the run here is because of having a limited QB.

Defense playing everything underneath and daring goff to beat them deep and beat the pass rush

This was supposed to be lions trenches draft and brad didn't do enough especially with the health issues we got on both sides of the trenches think a lot of oline playing injured

I think I noticed that Jared is throwing quickly. Either going to the first option by design or default, or he's feeling pressure. I don't think the schedule makers helped the Lions by having the last 2 teams they played at home (both of which are playoff caliber) getting a second crack at them. The Rams and Bucs couldn't have been more prepared to play.

I'm sure Ben expected it, but it looks like they know teams are going to try to take away the intermediate, down the middle routes, so they are dumping off to the flats. But that strategy has been ineffective. Time to go back to the drawing board, or maybe just assert themselves and that running game more until things open up.

USE LAPORTA MORE!!! thats what i saw....The oline is playing poorly and the plays seem to be figured out leaving Goff mostly high and dry. Tim Patrick running to nowhere. Goff was responsible for some of it but most of it is the team not being in synch.

Graham Glasgow has been getting chewed up, he has shown to be the weakest link on the line. Yes others have been blown up, especially LaPorta, but Graham has been blown up consistently.

On the 4th play you show (rub concept on 3rd and 2 incomplete to St Brown) on the broadcast Goff was looking for a flag. It looks to me like the rub did just enough, but 35 maybe gets away with a bit of a hold that lets him recover.

This tells you exactly what you need to know with Goff if it aint perfect but people still gonna pretend they dont see it! 😂😂 Its early no panic but he gotta be better and sp does Ben Johnson

He makes risky throws period,,he often throws into tight spaces in double and sometimes triple coverage...I personally think he's out there challenging himself and sometimes he goes too far.

Goff just has to lock in

Goff has little ability to escape pressure and make a play. So, if he doesn’t have extra time in the pocket, he’s screwed. When he has all the time in the world he can make a play. He looks super rusty

Collinsworth said it in the first game. They look like a team that didn't play any starters in the preseason. Which they didn't. Hopefully it's only 2 games to knock off rust.

Fan of your work. One thing that keeps jumping out is how open LaPorta was all day. Yet they never threw to him.

Great job here. Thank you for intelligent insight. My overall take, having done some game review and then watching your work here, is that the OL is just not "in sync" yet. Mostly on right side of line where Zeitler may be struggling a bit with new concepts and language, not to mention: how healthy is he? This may be putting add'l stress on 77 C trying to 'shore up' things. Glasgow is still acclimating to LG a bit? Dunno but, I've watched his struggle a bit, as well.
All in all -- Goff having pressure in his face is affecting him, always has. Clean up that Line play and a lot of stability and success comes back.

The penalty play, look at LaPorta. One on one at the goal line with a CB. That's a touchdown.

Bucks did this to the Lions a lot. They would blitz and force the RB to pick it up. Our RBs aren't great at pass pro. They should let the blitzer go and hit the running back in the vacated spot.

I also notice guys open all over the field. Goff needs to look around. His clock was really sped up.

I'm not worried as I had them 1-1 after two games. I'm encouraged with how improved the defense is. Also not playing in preseason doesn't help.

This may be petty from me but I personally hate that this video is called "The Jared Goff Problem then straight up says, "It isn't all Goff." Then, don't label the video that. Call it literally offensive holes or leaks

He definitely has down games. I just try to remember that he’s really good at keeping his composure, and bouncing back. And I remember him and the Rams winning that game against KC. You know the one.

That dig to St. Brown that Whitehead broke up is a great example of Goff being slightly off. He didn't throw it at the top of his drop, he reset his feet to make sure no defender was in the window and that gave Whitehead just enough time to break on the ball. He also wasn't properly aligned to the throw. In the endzone view you can see he was aligned to the left instead of down the middle of the field. If he was aligned properly that ball probably doesn't float on him as much and it probably gets there just in time for St. Brown to make the catch. That razor thin margin is what Goff is missing right now. I don't know if it's a confidence issue, but watching the games live it definitely feels like he (and Ben Johnson) are pressing all game long. They need to relax a little bit

I think the OL is playing a lot weaker then last year. The other teams are scheming us bettet. We need to adjust.

I think they were downplaying the penne, Sewel injury, and he is playing through some pretty serious pain

Goff does not play QB like a chess player, he has trouble dissecting defenses also doesn’t help he does not have the same abilities as every other QB in the league. If he can attack the sidelines more things will open up.

It happens to all QBs and its better that its happened this early into season so he can fix stuff early.... get better going into next game. We all know Goff has what it takes, we saw it last year.

I always thought he was a QB who got high ratings because he played for really good teams.

teams are being physical with our quick throws to lighter receivers. Goff is also getting his is true like you say. Goff has no "dependable" Reynolds. Glasgow paired with Sewell is far inferior to Zeitler paired with Sewell. Also, Glasgow is worse than Jackson was last year. Raymond was a cute "sparkplug" but not a big enough to block these safeties and linebackers or grab a ball in traffic. Goff's worst games in 2023 were when he got rattled, and I believed they are rattling a less than sure offense. We saved some money in the off-season, but they better hope Patrick gets up to speed VERY QUICKLY. St. Brown is our first down machine not our total offense. Also, Williams can't compensate for a much tougher 3rd receiver, that through 2 games has been totally missing.

Run the ball simple

To much east and west running after the catch. Guys need to be knifing north/south.

Lions are not executing on offense at a high level. 55 passes almost feels like they wanted to try and gets some reps in. Hopefully we see a better showing in the next couple of weeks.

Indirectly, I think teams have been working on ways to limit the Lions yards after contact. It feels like I’ve seen more plays where two defenders work to tackle the Lions. Less one guy trying to make a big hit and more slow them down and let the next guy secure the stop.

Letting Gibbs get a three yard run instead of trying to solo him at the LoS where he can cut for a six yard run.

We fix the interior oline, we will be better. Ragnow and Glasgow need to improve. Goff also needs to improve his pocket presences, he drifts back wayyyy to much, making it easier for the ends to get pressure on him.

These issues tend to snowball. 2nd & 5 is different than 2nd & 7, which means the linebackers are dropping into coverage faster, the pass rushers are getting upfield quicker. The widnows are smaller, the clock is sped up ... Goff gets a little hesitant, the timing gets a little off.

Football is tough and right now the Lions are making it harder than it has to be. I know it's a cliche, but just get a little better every week and this stuff gets solved. Which has been the identity of the team since Campbell has taken over.

I said it all last year Goff is to predictable! He is very good inside the numbers but he isn't good outside the numbers or 30 or more yards down field!!! So far the defenses are playing the middle of the field and reacting on the Goff's first read!!!
