The question is: what would you like to be known for? Having been a great drummer or a great human being?
ОтветитьPoor guy. He had a brain tumor here.
ОтветитьOn the drums an animal. Off-stage a gentleman and amazing brilliant human being.
ОтветитьOne of the most arrogant humans ever.A hot dog and show off not many people liked! He put down other music and musicians it's sickening!!!!
ОтветитьDon't tell Ginger Baker that he was the best jazz drummer in the world.
ОтветитьHe speaks very well and is no doubt sure of what he is saying. He is tough and has alot of experience in performing music. He helps the young people get involved in jazz.
ОтветитьBuddy Rich (Nueva York, 30 de septiembre de 1917 - Los Ángeles, 2 de abril de 1987) fue un baterista estadounidense de jazz, representante del swing, bop y, en general, del jazz de las big bands.

ОтветитьThere is no higher form of praise than Buddy Rich saying he’s proud of you.
ОтветитьA poignant opening line from Michael here. RIP
ОтветитьRIP Michael this great interview with Buddy was one in many that i loved so much ❤
ОтветитьI realky enjoyed his honesty and trythful demeanor gor peoples talent.❤😂🎉 rip buddy Rich.❤😂🎉
ОтветитьI wonder what Buddy would think of all the different varieties of jazz that evolved past the 90s like Jazz fusion with Dave Weckl or the stanky jazz that deals with a lot of poly rhythms
ОтветитьGreat drummer shit human being !!
ОтветитьThe best drummer of all time. I met him once, sat on his bus and talked to him. He was warm and kind and I left with his autograph. A prized possession of mine.
ОтветитьI asked Buddy who the best drummer was in 1973, and without hesitation he said, "Danny Seraphine from the band Chicago" and told me to listen to the new album (Chicago VII)
ОтветитьHe was a great man to work with. In the 60’s I used to book his gigs, for the schools he gave drum lessons in many colleges when I worked for the William Morris Agency. He had a great sense of humor, always upbeat, and wonderful man, he will be missed by millions. To hear his voice again is wonderful, thank you. We also had Frank Sinatra, he only would talk to my boss, William B William’s . I could have insisted on talking to Frank because his mother and my grandmother were best friends for many years and attended his parents 50th anniversary, I have pictures of them dancing.
ОтветитьStill the best drummer ever. His legacy unsurpassed.
ОтветитьBUDDY RITCH wasn't the best drummer in the world.....❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗
ОтветитьWHAT A STOOOOPID CONCEITED MAN AND INTERVIEW...HES OVERRATED ❗❗❗❗👎
ОтветитьIs he part black?
ОтветитьWhat a nasty turd he is. Gave flowers with ground glass to Dusty Springfield.
ОтветитьCasually mentions he played for 3 months with a broken arm
Ответить🙏🏾
Ответить'that music is for show' just like his drumsolo's
ОтветитьGld he did'nt live to see rap shit
ОтветитьGod bless you Buddy Rich ! God put you on earth to accell in percussion. And that you did ! Set the bar so high from chsllenging your skills .
God bless You 🙏
He was a great drummer, but not the best. Shut up with your white wash fake history
ОтветитьBuddy Rich was an excellent drummer, and a massive c***. Glad he doesn't get to spew his nonsense anymore :)
ОтветитьHe did not live long enough to be 70, sadly. I feel were he alive today he would still be banging them skins.
ОтветитьYep
ОтветитьThat was NOT the last Interview with Buddy Rich. He last Interview Bryant Gumble on the Today show on March 19, 1987. In fact He talked about his upcoming Surgery which he passed away from.
ОтветитьI saw Buddy in 1970 as an 8 year old. My mom told me to sneak up front to watch him. after one song security was about to kick me out and Buddy stopped the band before the next song and said "let the little guy stay" I wish I got to tell him about that. Later he let our drum n bugle corps open for him as we played Channel One Suite and won a couple times. 21 championsips later my son teaches that drum corps.
ОтветитьThank you Sir.
ОтветитьRich is a big band drummer. He is not a jazz drummer in any way shape or form, his improv skills lack significantly
ОтветитьReal reason he used musicians straight out of college rather than seasoned pros...They were cheap.
ОтветитьIn my opinion, I call Buddy "The Fireworks Display of Big-Band Jazz Drums". Not just "The Goat of Jazz Band Drumming."
Why? He is a bit like Marvin "Smitty" Smith, my favorite next drummer after Buddy, and especially when Buddy passed.
Why? Like Marvin's performances, Buddy's swing/jazz drumming was as entertaining as fireworks - from the opening solos which sometimes features heavy tom-tom work (like the opening of "Good News'), to the long-winded drum solos (the "fireworks displays themselves", where he would do kick drum blasts as boomy as aerial bombs, and cymbal blasts like slow-burning big aerial shells, and snare licks almost like continuous volleys of exploding blasts - a great example of that is "Ya Gotta Try"), and in the outros of most swing big band jazz numbers, where he would do his own versions of his "grand finales" on the jazz drums, where his "coup de grace" blast beats on the cymbals as "stingers" (along with the kick) which will make you love Buddy's drumming forever.
Buddy is often described as arrogant but in my book anybody as great as him can be as arrogant as they like.
ОтветитьBuddy Rich war ein unglaublich guter Drummer und hatte eine verblüffende Persönlichkeit - ein toller Typ!
ОтветитьHe speaks much to the same patterns of his drumming rhythms.
Ответитьonce into jazz you cant stop he is right
Ответитьhis gift to the world is to inspire others to play that's what he is doing you may not like him at first but you will thank him in the end his example and work ethic keeps you motivated to be better
ОтветитьHe died on the Parkinson show.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьYou cut off the playing jerk !
ОтветитьBuddy makes me a bit ashamed. It should bother me more than it does that he was a jerk. But I love him for being the best in the world.
ОтветитьHis personality reminds me of Bill Nye. Pleasant with the public, but absolutely merciless with his colleagues.
ОтветитьWas a walking living version of the whiplash film
Ответить… and to think he died not long after this interview, and they touched on his age.
