off topic but i just recently got into anime figures collecting and i wonder if i'm the only one that doesn't even watch anime but just loves the figures so much because they are absolutely gorgeous 😭
ОтветитьI kept my figurine collecting until i went japan and bought the whole bundle for my list.....got all of them in variety ...3 tip no matterwhat kind of figurine.....look at face, look at paint colour and only get 1 character ...you wont regret if u follow this 3 tip
ОтветитьI don’t think I caught it or it wasn’t mentioned but where do you sell off your figures? That amount of figures couldn’t have been easy to sell!
Ответитьidk if you read comments, but where do you sell your figures? that's the one thing I'm trying to figure out for down sizing my collection.
Ответить👍
Ответитьi have a similar addiction to hoard digital stuff. eventually you will have to cull your collection and keep the only goodest stuff there. and be more cautious not to be lost in the trigger habbit again
ОтветитьI waste money by buying figures of different characters with same / similar pose. I let go some pre order because i think its expensive which i wished i should have brought.
Ответитьi can never say no to kimono and dresses!
ОтветитьI have been wanting to do this but man I have over 50 figures I want gone that are in storage and selling each 1 by one feels extremely daunting :c
ОтветитьWell done, you are reigning yourself in a very healthy way.
ОтветитьI am figure collector but I am trying not to get more figure because I got so many of them already but they keep coming out with new ones but I still get the ones I only really likes like my Zelda figures, Street Fighters Chun Li and Sakura and Xmen now I love it I’m glad Mafex Xmen came out it’s so GORGEOUS figure I would never sell mine I’ll still keep it
ОтветитьNintendo Amiibo it’s a same way once u buy once it becomes Collections that is why I stop buying amiibos I have no rooms I just buy Amiibo card it safe in small case 😅 I don’t have to deal with Dust and Spaces for my amiibos
ОтветитьI always have this in mind.
Buying is easy, selling is difficult.
Where do you sell yours away?
So I ended up selling everything except for the Alter figures. I've kept only Alter figures, including the pre-order ones.
ОтветитьSeeing this video makes me happy, since the start of this year I’ve been “unhauling” a good chunk of my own impulse purchases 😂 definitely is a better feeling for your space, wallet, and mind…. Hopefully I can adopt better collecting habits while I’m at it!
ОтветитьI’m sure you made a nice profit. It’s probably a good time to sell.
I’m kind of in the phase of intentionally buying something for a reason after seeing so many boxes in my room. Usually sticking to a certain style or theme to keep consistency with my collection.
New room tour
ОтветитьClassic rookie move, loving anime too fast and too hard, too soon!
ОтветитьI really love that you took the time to go through your reasoning here. Collecting has ups, downs and other changes that will happen as your life or your mindset as a collector shifts. I've had it happen multiple times and in different collections (dolls, anime figs, etc.) and i can heavily relate to the feeling of "once you decide to sell a few, it gets easier with each next one", having just done a partial 'purge' of my figures as well.
Coming out the other end always feels freeing and like the parts of the collection you decided to keep finally get to shine and breathe with the space that's been cleared
I only buy figures that are from anime's I really like, I like the figure, it's one character from one show only, the character has to represent my favorite part about the show or be my favorite character. and it has to work well with figures I already have, or plan to get. I still have too many though :/
Ответитьthank you for the explanation of the collacting process I'm trying to collect figures and I found some good priced ones that I don't even like that much and I was actually so obsessed with the idea of having a completed collection that I didnt even realize the fact that I have to get ones that mean something or the ones that I really want and need in my room
ОтветитьBigger is better~ Small apartment or not, I'd rather have one giant figure than 10 1/7 scales. ;p
ОтветитьOur culture values in a society will always be exploited
We are exploited through the cultural values we all approve of; hard work, status, and consumerism.
Don’t let a value you possess to be the very thing this society exploits and manipulated you to bringing in to excess
Especially as a TRUE collector that would collect ALL anime figures ACCEPTS that the financial challenges, life challenges, from this decision is something they have to live with, as their ultimate goal is their passion to collect and preserve the art as long as possible-= A Museum.
And many of us don’t want to make that sacrifice or see that is a goal worth pursuing, THaTS OK.
Most of us just want to rekindle our childhood or admire art that we see that made us feel something and made us who we are, the main part of a collectors journey is being honest on what is their end goal
I've decided to sell figures from a game/anime/manga that I consider to be a 7/10 or just ok at best. I had a bit of a habit to buy whatever was slightly appealing to me regardless if the anime it was from was kinda mid but it was the first job where I had a decent paycheck so I couldn't help going on a spending spree. So now I just want my collection to be a reflection of what I am most passionate about.
Ответитьeverything is about over consumption nowadays, and its just not sustainable!!! we do NOT need to own it all!!! tysm for making this!!!
ОтветитьRespectable tbh im going to start but I'm going to have one figure of each character so if there is a figure that I like but I already have the character I would either sell the one i already have or just not get the new one
ОтветитьWhen I started figure collecting, I hoarded gashapons as those were the ones affordable for me in price. Sometimes even random ones I didn't know well but I just liked how they looked. Then some time ago I looked at the cluttered glass cabinet and got sick of the full shelves. There was no space for any new figure for years now. :/ I sold about a bit less than half of my collection so far and it feels SO good to have ONE shelf now where I display my favorite nendoroids (got into collecting them oh no! XD) and some prize figures. I want to keep getting rid of old figures, and have space for new ones I really like and KNOW the character too! I'll also keep their boxes in case I decide to sell any new figures later on.
Ответитьi think the trend in your reasoning is just liking GOOD SCULPTS. i am the same. figures with applied prints arent really as impressive and satisfying to look at as figures with small delicate details.
ОтветитьWatching channels about anime figures I never considered how the creators deal with so many figures
ОтветитьWhere are you selling your figurines at?
ОтветитьHi. Are you selling Chiyuru by Skytube?
ОтветитьMy figure collecting style is Buy Buy Buy till I Die
ОтветитьPart of the reason why I only have 3 Detolfs. (also cause ikea stopped selling detolfs haha).
Cause with 3 detolf's, I thought I could control how many figures I can get. i.e. only buy what I can fit in the 3 detolfs. But I was wrong, I still ended up buying what I "liked" and them stuck in their boxes sealed stored in a room cause my detolfs were full.
Originally I only planned to get Fate GO figures cause I love the game and the heroes in it.
but ended up buying expensive Azur Lane figures because.. Well they are hot AF?.
Eventually my collecting habit came to the same point where I bought what I liked. But not what I truly wanted which are the FGO figures.
I ended up selling the still sealed Azur Lane figures. And non FGO figures. Still do.
Cause in the end you do realize that collecting specially 1/7 scale figures gets expensive real quick.
And to note, I have not even played Azur Lane much. I played like 5 minutes maxed and realize it wasn't a gameplay style I liked. But truthfully yes the figures are very sexy and beautiful.
Bottom line is that, collecting is okay as long as you are being responsible.
And when you feel like buying. Think reallyyyy Hard.
Because there is a difference between liking a figure vs loving it.
Liking a figure is more of like a time limited thing where eventually you will lose interest on the figure. Whilst loving a figure is forever to keep a figure type of level.
but yea, figure collecting is.. expensive XD
You can go into big debt really fast asides from just having no room. Been there done that. I trim my collection every 6 months. If I don't have it displayed then it has to go.
ОтветитьI totally feel you! I heavely reduced my collection a while ago aswell. When I got into collecting figures I basically bought every figure that I liked on first glance eventhough I got bored of a lot of these figures fairly quickly. So I set some rules for myself so that I'm happy with my collection at all times. I told myself that I'm only gonna buy figures that look good, that are from shows that I liked and that are of characters that I like (with some exceptions of course). Also no swimsuit versions, mostly characters in their "base" form.
ОтветитьI want to rehome most of my collection. It’s just not practical to move anymore and I want to eventually move overseas. I don’t want to do FBMP or a local sale where people will get my address. Should I just ask friends on anime forums?
ОтветитьI also started to downsize my collection but it takes time until they are sold :(. I sell them mostly because of the health aspect because the plasticizers in PVC is not really healthy and the more figure you have the more you inhale of it.
And yes they take a lot of space O_O and they get more and more expensive.
The bit about liking stuff but not needing - very true...
ОтветитьHey I’m a beginner collector I have 4 figures of lucky star I want to expand my collection but I’m struggling with affording them as a 12 year old I can’t get a job so do y’all have any tips
Ответить[Matthew 6:19 KJV]

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

How do you sell yourfigures?
ОтветитьYou should do a new room tour❤
ОтветитьThat's easy for me since I'm poor xD and I don't have the luxury of buying something just because of a nice outfit or photo.
My philosophy about figures is. The size (like 1/7 that are the biggest ones that I have) only for the characters I most to love and also only that figure if that character. Also I preferred the littles figures since I can have a collection and more character for the price of one big.
Second is it doesn't matter how beautiful the figure is If I don't like the character enough I will not buy it. Also not oc.
If I don't have a place for the figure I can't buy it
No more than 30 cm of high for figure...I don't have a place for it xd
Always search real photos of the figure and not a render
Don't buy by impulse. Never. Must pass a time to think about it.
Nor a lot of figures os the same character....Miku is the only exception xD I have 15, I just love her
The figure must have a meaning, for the character and the outfit, not onli for being beautiful
can you do a video about how you sold those anime figures???
ОтветитьI like the video. But because you have made the experience it is easy, and not easy, to coose the best for ypurself.
But I am a new collector. Meaning in a year I just have 6 normal figures. No scale. And no bunny. And now I am watching one bunny and ask myself if I can do that. Because I am very choosy. I want certain characters but not all figures of them. And I have no series of any kind.
I could do like you and buy and than next year sell. But I want to not create that much work for me. I am not creating big collection. I just want some.
There is one "big".scale that I am looking for a year...but yeah 3-digits to pay is also "really, do I need it" or "do I want it because I have non of that type" 😮💨
Any sugestion for a newbie?
Bro this video is depressing asl
ОтветитьMy collection does not fit together what soever but individually I love my figures, I only have 35 because I only keep and get figures that I Loveee (also I'm 17 so im broke)
ОтветитьPersonally i dont think i have high standard for figures but maybe i do cuz most of the figures here shown i just think they're not worth collecting, they dont look that good, plus its an expensive hobby i dont wanna waste my money on a figure that i wouldnt always love, last year i wanted to buy the Genshin Mona figure the expensive one idk the manufacturer but once i opened the box immediately traded it back for other figures cuz it aint it, up until now ive only bought a few nendoroid cuz their quality is just really good and consistent, its much harder to find good figures that arent gonna cost an arm and a leg so yeah thats my journey collecting so far
ОтветитьI used to only buy figures from aliexpress so they were all dupes and poor quality (tho most of my collection is real now) so I need to get rid of the really poor quality ones, but I don’t plan on selling them because of how low quality they are
Ответить
