Thank you so much for this video. As a new convert to Orthodox Christianity I am truly grateful to better understand the sacrament of marriage. I would one day like to marry and have a family, so I want to fully understand and prepare the best I can.

The church didn't bother with marriage at all for 1100 YEARS after Jesus. Then suddenly they need to do something about it? No, it's because all the babies Christian Men were out making all over the place came for a slice of daddy's will INSTEAD OF that money going to the church (and clergy pockets). So they made it up that marriage has to be recorded (and by all reality PERMITTED) by the church.

In Colonial America, self-divorce was an actual thing. People would post in the newspaper that they were no longer a household. Usually, a man would disavow any of the long-forgotten wife's bills. Or they would take out ads saying that their spouse had been sleeping around and they were done. And then there were laws about public nakedness because people were basically having se# anywhere. Now, tell me again: How Christian was the country's founding???
