Very useful again, Johnny. I am a so-called "digital nomad" ;), and agree that getting a local sim or esim is more ideal. You can get local esims in many countries, it's just a case of shopping around and checking. But out of the esim apps available I generally use Airalo and Nomad the most because they have the most competitive pricing and also flexibility. Holafly is usually not suitable for me as I always use hotspot when working while on the road, but have used them as well and no issues. Two other good options are Klook and KK Day, which tend to have great deals for esims in Asia. Keep up the good work.

If you spend a lot of time in a country you need a local SIM, that's right. Anyway, it doesn't have to be a “physical SIM”, as eSIMs are provided by many local mobile companies around the world. Aside that, great video as always.

Nice video and very good decisions especially mentioning the real sim.

for germany if ur under 28 Gönn is a good e sim option with 3 free deals a year, and there is fraenk which is also a steal.
these arent limited to german citizen so any traveler will profit from them

As someone who used Holafly, this is by far the WORST esim I bought. Asked for a refund after 2 days. Signal would cut every 10 minutes and I had to reset the ESIM

For me i think saily is the best because they have even lower prices than airalo and its fast as hell, but when i use airalo it puts me in a low priority and the soeed is not that good. So i recommend saily

As a traveler using eSim, I used Airalo before, but I recently switched to WoW eSim and it has been a game changer. It's reasonably priced, comes with detailed installation instructions, offers a smooth connection, and customer service supports you at any time. Just turn on data roaming on your phone and scan the QR code.

Roamless has given me the best connections so far. Top tier1 networks and 5G connection. You can also make calls in the app.

Saily eSIM is terrible in Japan. Slow LTE coverage in Tokyo. I tried it for 3 days thinking maybe this is somehow ‘normal’ or I’m doing something wrong. At least a minute to do a google search. So frustrating. This isn’t even the worst part. The customer service. OMG. Live messaging where you get a response 4 hours later. Friendly in tone but content (script) is a concern. I was on with the Manager “Samson Harris”. After some troubleshooting it was determined that there wasn’t any 4G or 5G coverage for where I am and everywhere I’ve been. I.e. all the tourist areas. I asked for a refund and was denied because my phone had somehow managed to use more than 1% of the purchased data. I explained that a product that does not function as advertised requires a refund. By consumer protection laws and common decency/integrity. The response was concerning:

“We do not guarantee nor represent that the signal would be 4G or 5G and coverage 100% in all areas: ‘The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee a fault-free Service, and make no warranties regarding network coverage, quality, or availability.’ ”.

This message conversation took an hour. The whole experience was scarring. Luckily a cheaper option with Ubigi worked immediately at a good speed. I understand issues occur with business services. Not resolving an issue that makes the service unusable is inexcusable. Stating that it’s not their responsibility is sickening.

Hi, great advice. We are doing a cruise that includes the west coast of africa, Maderia and then over to 5 of the carribean islands. I noticed that monito didn't have a Carribean option, just a selection of the islands. Would I need 2 plans? 1 for maderia and 1 for the carribean?

I just recently switched to a talk and text plan with my provider to save money since I only average 2GB of data/month instead of paying for 20GB/month that I never even get close to using up. I switched to airalo 20GB global esim for my data plan valid for 1 year. I figure im going to save over 200 dollars a year, plus I can have data in 124 countries if I travel.

Hi! I have checked reviews from some providers, and some of them say that certain providers provide a very slow service. For example, they connect to the slowest network (and thus cheaper) so it is a nightmare to navigate. Is there any way to know if a certain provider is going to do so? Or one very reliable provider that you recommend? Thanks!

I’ve tried Holafly and it was very very bad.
We were 3 to use Holafly eSIM in the US and all of us got issues with it.
We got a ping of 620ms download a 1.2MB/s and upload at 1MB/s in 5G of course.
When I tried to locate my IP adress, I was located in Hong Kong.
That means all the data were going through a Chinese data center.
I will never use Holafly anymore.
