Well, this has been Microsoft's and Xbox stance the whole generation.

They said it when they rolled out Cloud Gaming, partnered with Samsung TV, various handheld manufacturers and so many more and third rate gaming outlets are still going "OMG, HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!?!?"

People aren't going to realise this isn't "One Xbox to rule them all forevermore" because new streaming encoding will come out that will inevitably require hardware upgrades
And you know they will sell the first ones without any considerable local storage and then say "With GamePass Ultra Plus Family Edition you can stream games offline!" and sell you the same damn Xbox you just sold to get this one

Xbox makes more money from game sales than hardware. It's why hardware is so cheap. It's sold at a loss.

But is streaming the games really any cheaper? Not to mention the vast majority of the US having internet that can't even handle streaming.

Aren't all consoles loss leaders? It's been that way since the PS3. Locking people into an ecosystem is what makes all the money not selling the hardware.
If you don't have a console, you are probably not going to buy one by now, so you need a subscription to play Microsoft exclusive games, that's exactly what they want without losing money on each console sale.

I do not want to stream. I want to own my stuff. I will happily just play my own games. I have played the same games consistently for 20 plus years, do not test me. I will replay Pokemon Red and Skyrim.

why do games need updates? in the 2000s games came out and they were just FINISHED upon release. Maybe if you were lucky you would get optional DLC a good while later. we do not constantly need more and more content for the sake of 'new shiny' syndrome.

There should be some form of regulations against layoffs and closing Studios or businesses within a year or two of purchasing them. I call a lot of times a company can be purchased without the employees having any idea that it's happening and then a week later be out of the job.

I was done with Apex Legends when they split Ranked season just because 2% of the player base were getting bored. Worked so hard to get past Gold with the limited time I had just to be kicked down mid season. Seeing how Apex has been progressing I don't miss it at all, you already had to buy each pass it never gave enough in-game currency to get the next one.

Consoles are dead. Xbox is slowly going software only. I haven't had a reason to buy a ps5 since everything is released on ps4 and pc, even if delayed. nintendo has only maintained so far due to their propensity to litigate. Sony and nintendo have to really work hard this next gen to stay around.
