There are 6 'deliberat errors'. Did you spot them?
ОтветитьVery attractive machines on the outside, but outdated specs even for their time. Still, they're very nice collectibles!
ОтветитьLove the videos Graham , im suscribed!!
ОтветитьSoftware developers built their titles for the 16k machines so that they could run on all TED systems, with some exceptions. Only now are original titles are being made to take advantage of 64k ram (as standard in the Plus4 or a simple mod / upgrade for the 16k machines), and colour (with a pallet of 121 colours to chose from including black.).
ОтветитьNever seen those tutorial cartridges before. Always thought of the 264 series as a bit of an oddity. Only thing they had going for them was the multicolour mode (close to 128 colours) and faster CPU speed. Got all of those myself too, but hardly ever use them. Only thing I've done is to add coolers on top of the major chips because i hear that the TED chip tends to overheat and break. Looking forward to the next episode.
ОтветитьWho in his right mind would actually type a report on the keyboard of a 116? The other Commodore machines had - for the time - excellent keyboards, especially compared with the typewriter we hat at home. ;-)
ОтветитьWell done Graham. I have a few Scott Adams Adventures on cartridge for the Plus/4 and C16.
ОтветитьOn the C16 tutorial cartridge, why not just use the cursor keys on the Plus/4? Those should have worked fine as they send the same signals.
I really enjoy my Plus/4. It is a very nice machine
As far as I know, one of the main problems was Jack leaving the company. The new marketing advertised these computers are the "better C64" and they also tried to make "business machines" (ie the built-in software), and - AFAIK again - none of these was the original goal of Jack (these two marketing strategies also show how much they were confused what to do with these computers). Anyway it's possible that not even the original fear of Jack (as you told in the video) turned into reality either, so it would have been a similar story with even Jack remaining onboard the company ... But at least, these machines were very popular in some "more poor" countries (like in mine, in Hungary, I even have two Plus/4s and three C16s among others - like C64/C128 - of course ...) where they were mostly sold very cheaply so they were kind of accessible even these places, where people typically does not have the money at all for "stuffs like computers".
ОтветитьPart 2 - TED Series link is bad. In case you would rectify it. Cheers, M
ОтветитьI got C116 in '86 till '93. First two years i was learn BASIC without datasette...
ОтветитьThe Commodore C-16 is the best machine. I have got one as child.
ОтветитьSomeone should make a modern retro mini which combines all the weird old failed Commodore PCs into one unit - HDMI out, SD card, USB power. $50 - $75 bucks. Power on, select which machine you want to use, boom.
ОтветитьBack in early 1985 a friend of mine had a Commodore 16, countless hours we played Outlaw on that machine!
