Thank you so much for this tutorial, and solidifying my disdain for the 808 (and Trap beats in general)

Where is the mention of some of the biggest artist innovators of the use of sampling in other forms of music that pre- dated rap and edm? Artists like Al Jourgensen from Ministry for example? People that actually used samples to enhance original compositions instead of just " borrowing" every sound source to create songs? Thats what's missing from so much " music " nowadays. So many DJs nowadays are not real musicians.

For level 3 you don't even need to use a "sample". Just go outside and record noises.

Wouldnt even consider 3rd level as sampling per say, because we are not really "flipping the sample".
We more are using the sample to synthesise new sounds from it.

I basically just use serato sampler its more simple for me. Really don't care for sound design cause I'll pay people to do that. But I love splice tho so many samples to chose from. All I use use is sample and loops and melody and chord generators to make my beats quick and fast.

this is cool, but the only metric that matters is nothing to do with how technical you’re sampling style is, only how good it sounds

No mention of Bobby digital and the ASR-10? That's where the modern sampling style came from IMO, RZA and Havoc changed the game!

Honestly level 3 is not so much a level of sampling, but more of a completely different skillset.

I could make a whole beat level 3 style and have used many of those methods in beats I’ve made before, but I would totally fail trying to make anything good at level 1 or 2. I think of myself as a producer, but would say I am complete trash at sampling.

Level 3 feels more like once you’ve mastered sampling, you start branching out to production and audio design skills to have a bigger toolset.

While he did use all major daws, notice how Bitwig is used for the most advanced lvl. I think that pretty much dictates how useful each daw is with wav manipulation. Fruity is lvl 1, very limited for samples but great for beats. Then Ableton can be manipulated pretty good and useful for recording. Bitwig is just that much more wav sampling powerful and he arranged everything in the arrangement window bar by bar, letting the user place everything to a 16th if you need to. I prefer BW
