your 4.4m megabase inspired me to try and go for legendary all sciences, and I am starting to realize of the sheer scale right now as I have 660 cryolabs making sulfur with 220 rocket silos as chests in the test world
I realize it's overly wasteful compared to uncommon, but it would be cool
(tips are much appreciated, I am still only on mining prod 318, just dreaming big)

Maybe try Rotating the Sulfur Wagon Design by 90 Degrees. It may change the look to be less Tumor Like. Also im Kinda sad you didnt try any Red Chip Designs with Wagons and no Rocket silos.

That recycler cargo wagon technique is nuts, I never would have thought of that!

I went into the vid with the intention of learning about common sulfur manifacturing but when i saw the calculator i just loved it and went: "He is a GAMER"

Definitely interested in investigating the biter farms as pollution filters, it's a wonderfully emergent concept.

Regarding common vs uncommon science, at least the lab inserters swinging extra should be straightforward to benchmark. Just labs and belts that spawn science to feed.
Testing including the platform transport is a bit harder to test though.

I'm loving this series! Also the way you're doing the sciences by location to minimize logistics ups costs makes alot of sense so it's really cool to see how far space age can be pushed! The fact you can do 4m spm at 90ups is insane

First, thanks for geeking out.

I feel most of the factorio audience is already nerdy enough to be delighted with your videos being this dense(in a good sense). So I don't think you will veer off the viewers by doing so.(Please confirm the retention metrics if you want ahahha)

Secondly, I think your profile is exactly what it was missing from the veterans that post blueprints/overview/"perfect" factories/masterclass.. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love all of them, but they don't get the exact ratios needed because they are not drilling for the answers like you do.

If I were to recommend an actual masterclass on Factorio 2.0, yours for sure would be it.

And I second the other commenter that said this calculator deserves its own video.

*Anxiously waiting next designs/videos*.

Do you generally run your game at a higher speed? I've considered doing that, but the feeling of blasting through research at like 120 UPS seems a little cheaty.

Inspired by your previous videos, I designed a blue science build in my base, currently outputting (and consuming) two green belts (480/s).

I encountered similar issues regarding the stopping of the cryo plants on inserter swings. My design is, of course, nowhere near this level of perfect. 😂 But it works.

I'm currently designing a Gleba science production for 240/s in green quality, which is quite a challenge given that fruits are harvested in common quality only.

Looking forward for your series to cover Gleba.

I also built 480/s Aquilo science in green quality, which is tileable and works really nice. Aquilo might be my favorite planet, though the science is a bit useless in the long run.

Keep up the good work, well appreciated! 😊

"I don't like excel so I retro-engineered and re-coded the game in TypeScript. Now let's get more science !"
As a developer I can kinda relate but damn that's a lot of work. Really cool video as always.
I'm slowly designing my own normal quality science modules in my save incorporating some of your tech and processes, although I can use foundries and have to come up with my own designs which is really fun. Thanks for the inspiration !
Btw I love any cursed design and the cargo wagon thingy I also recently used for a red circuits blueprint and I don't mind the non-symmetrical designs, cursed is the way to go :p

I just wanted to note that your "running simulation X out of Y" prints are likely impacting performance quite a lot: it turns out that printing is really really slow, and it can be a fairly significant improvement to only print every couple hundred simulations or so, just to avoid spending excessive amounts of time in console.log.

Amazing designs, I've been using all of them so far in my own base. I removed all of my old base and have set up a new one with the 4 mining prod sciences so far, 8M SPM! Not sure how my UPS will look like when adding more sciences but it think it will be fine.
Also im pretty sure use biter nests to reduce pollution will destroy your UPS completely 🤣, but it would be fun to test.
