I wanna be a pilot. I think im gonna save up and finance a airplane. Than rent it out. Than i can just fly for free basically. Is the largest portion of flight school is the cost related to renting airplanes while learning.

I know more about aviation than probably anything else in life other than the trucking industry and based on what you said about aviation, I would never trust anything you say about anything. Do more research

Until they automate airplanes, including the pilot. I know. "That'll never happen." Also, commercial planes are not maintained properly anymore. The chances of critical malfunction not related to pilot error is a factor to keep in mind. There's no bailing out of the plane if something goes wrong. There's probably also an extensive and persistent security and/or background check (as there should be) that some would deem invasive. You're also consistently away from home. It's almost as bad as being an OTR trucker. Just a few things to keep in mind, that's all.

about 9 healthcare positions I can think of make more than your list....much more. even entry level attorneys often make more. btw, besides the extensive training, pilots earn notoriously low pay for several years early in their careers

To become a pilot, easiest way is to become a pilot for the military first. Army has a warrant officer program that takes newbies and trains them, but it’s a 12 year obligation

Pilots take years of experience and horrendous schedules away from family. Additionally, you’re constantly studying for certification check rides to remain current. Not a cakewalk at all

FYI….. a bachelors degree and a private pilot’s license will not get you a job as an airline pilot. You need to have commercial pilots license with an ATP rating & a minimum of around 1500 hours multi engine flying time. The license alone is nearly $100,000 to get. And that’s not even including the cost to get a bachelors degree. There’s a reason why a lot of people are not becoming pilots; it’s crazy expensive to get into.

Idk. If you are out for money and you want to have guaranteed wealth, you have to work hard and stop looking for shortcuts. This whole "oh, but I could just get my bachelors in insert field and make more than a doctor!" yeah no, that's not how it works most of the time for most people (and no, you are probably not an exception to this). The only way to make more than doctors and lawyers is to take a risk and strike big as an entrepreneur of some kind, other than that you are likely out of luck.

I went from being a corporate drone 4 years ago to an apartment maintenance guy making 40k a year. 4 years later I’m making about $9700 monthly in hvac, and investing $1500 monthly of that with a wife and two kids to support. Not quite as much as those jobs you listed but much more attainable for a larger demographic with a small monetary/time investment up front.

As many others have pointed out, you need way more to become an airline pilot. But for becoming a military pilot, you just need a bachelor's and PPL, though the PPL is optional but preferred.
