Game Grumps Inside part 5

I learned about this game from my uncle. I was only about 7 or 8 but I was SO entranced by the graphics and the imagery-based storytelling; there was NO other game like it at the time. It felt like you were playing a movie. To this day it's easily in my top three favorite NES games. Impossibly difficult, lol, but amazing nonetheless.

Finally learned the origin of Mike Aruba

The thing that sets this game apart from a lot of other games, for me at least, is the minimal use of music. That, combined with the music that is used, creates a great atmosphere of tension; the only thing on this planet that's NOT trying to kill you is Mike.

Can't believe this game is 30 years old now. Bought it on my DS as a celebration for both Mike and the Grumps. It was around 2 years ago that these videos helped me get through some really rough and lonely times. I love you guys. <3

Oh GOD. I remember why this playthrough always rubbed me the wrong way. Dan's like, "who needs backstory? That absolutely god-tier opening cutscene that was revolutionary for the time? SKIP IT. You're in water now!" The rest of the playthrough was great, but MAN, that was a bad first impression the first time I watched this as a fan of the game.

I must say, that animation is simply incredible for an early SNES title. Very ahead of its time.

I played this when I was 6 years old and was so scared, I never went past the gorilla thing.
