my parents were overbearing and didn't want me to smoke cigs or weed when i was a teen .(they still don't so i don't smoke Infront of them ( i am almost 40 and my parents 70))..i rebelled as they started to drug test me and i eventually figured out how to beat the drug tests ... I never imagined killing my parents. I had strong resentments towards them bc of their beliefs but i understand why they had those beliefs.

This kid reminds me a lot of two girls I know. They’re even younger though. 13.
I don’t think they are going to kill someone or anything, but they’re vaping, stealing, smoking, and probably a lot more I just don’t know about. I already told teachers n stuff but I’m like concerned for those two girls, since I’ve known them for years. I grew up with them. I can’t really tell the police, I mean I COULD but they can’t really do anything. I haven’t seen any adults give them drugs or cigs so the police ain’t doing anything.

Not to sound like a bully to a child, but it is interesting that she's trying to give these "bad girl" vibes but based on the demeanor she's showing in the surveillance video and the haircut and even just the outfit choice she seems like someone who probably was a target of bullying or was afraid she would be bc knowing all of this i don't get "bad girl" vibes, which is so common in teen rebellion but you don't see those girls killing people. This seems like the last resort to prove to everyone she is "cool" rather she had people judging her or not. Major insecurities

Hey, bad news: if a doctor prescribes a medication for your child, and you disagree, and do not give that child that medication it can be considered neglect. EVEN IF IT'S FOUND OUT YOU WERE RIGHT. my kid was diagnosed with bipolar, I knew that wasn't the issue, didn't give him the medication after he turned into a zombie, and got a wake up call from CPS. I had to fight like mad and go to so many doctors before we found out it was caused by huntingtons disease, damn near lost custody of him and no one even apologized. It's nuts.

It's not just mental illness, but on top of that she might have psychopathy, which is not mental illness, but a personality. Psychopathy mixed with mental illness is terrifying.

Carly needs to go to jail and stay there for as long as possible.

That said, I don't like the idea of crapping on the defense attorney. They're a critical part of the system, without whom a fair trial is impossible. They have to defend the client regardless of what their real feelings are, and it's enough of a drain on the soul without them being ridiculed.

Medication for someone that young is terrifying to me. When I was inconsistent with my own medication for bipolar I was in my mid 20s and I messed myself up severely because of it. Not taking medication on schedule can and usually will end up making your mental condition worse. I cannot begin to imagine how much that stuff messed her developing mind up if she wasn’t keeping on schedule.

Yo I don't have an opinion on this case, don't know enough, but you gotta stop generalising your experience. As unpleasant as PTSD is, it doesn't mess with your ability to percieve the world. You're also basically comparing a broken leg to like, cerebral palsy or something. PTSD is not the same as having a life long neurological difference. The type of abuse you experienced can't even be generalised to other forms of abuse, let alone to all mental health disorders globally.

The question of how all this should operate in law is a separate question but you gotta stop speaking for schizophrenics when you regularly demonstrate you don't know the difference between narcissistic delusions and psychotic ones.

"I'm mentally ill and I never killed someone". Ummm okay? You also weren't pushed to breaking point by an abuser you genuinely believed you couldn't escape. You haven't had demons screaming in your ear and not known they weren't real. You haven't believed someone in your life is a changeling or something. Or that they'd come back to life.

Schizophrenics are not intrinsically dangerous but occasionally they are, and will get themselves or others killed. And some will be deeply horrified once they come out of their episode.

I get that it's good to destigmatize mental health by disassociating it with violence, but occasionally these things do happen and it's ablist to just ignore the possibility. Darker mental health symptoms do exist and people with them dont deserve to be erased.

"1 in the chat if you've never killed someone" yeah okay I get it but how about a "2 in the chat if you've experienced abuse severe enough it drove you to consider violence" or "3 in the chat if you've ever been so disconnected with reality you're scared what you could have done".

It's like you're comparing alcohol to LSD, like if you killed someone on LSD that's still fucked up but very different from doing the same on alcohol. Like maybe you thought they were a giant spider or some shit, you don't know. Giving into your base urges and not knowing what's real are not the same

Thank you for saying what you did about mental illness. People will blame anything on mental illness when there are many of us who deal with it and have NEVER dreamed of doing anything like this. It is really upsetting. This also continues to make people look at those of us with mental illness like we are seconds away from killing people. Which is just wrong.

The correct sentencing is life in prison with the possibility of parole. If my memory is correct, she'll be eligible for parole in her 50s, but she would be under state supervision for the rest of her life if approved.

OMG you can see him actively dissociating imo. He is just going through the motions when he's on the stand. It's so sad. She's evil. Her poor stepdad. So glad she got life. And she was acting so weird. Her emotions were all over the place, man. I just wanna give this man the biggest hug. I can't even imagine.

Your right about kids being clever if they don't want to take medication.
When I was 16 I was on antidepressants despite not being a depressed kid. I was punk, into metal music, I had friends etc.
I hated the effects it did to me but I was being watched to make sure I was taking them.

One night I got into the pills, they were plastic capsules. I opened each one and emptied the contents down the toilet and put them all back together flawlessly.

For months I was taking empty capsules.
