Greg explains that #SERP stands for Search Engine Results Page, which is the first page you see when searching for something in Google.

What you would want to do is to check on what is already ranking. In that way, you can create something better. There's a saying in boxing that if you want to beat the champ, you have to knock them out. The same goes in #SEO; if you're going to outrank somebody or replace somebody on the first page of Google, you have to create something better than what they have.

This is because #Google enjoys complacency. So, if they find something that works, they want to stick with it as long as possible until yours is proven to be better.

If you see a list post of five items, like "Five Ways to Increase Traffic," you might want to do seventeen ways and make something more thorough and step by step. Replace generic content with something specific. For example, instead of using "How to Grow Your Website Traffic," create something like, "How We Went From 0 to 130,000 Visitors per Month." This would enable your story to replace their generic topic.

He further adds that the best part of #SERPanalysis is that Google is going to tell you what to write. So you never have to think about what it is that you're going to write about. The other part of SERP analysis is that you have to identify who your competitors are. How many links you're going to rank, and how competitive is the space. If it is all social media posts, then that's great, and you would be able to rank the blog post easily. But if it's all well-funded marketing teams fighting for that space, then maybe it's better to find something else to rank instead.
