she has the most beautiful voice I could listen to this over and over without getting tired, I love Debbie Reynolds forgotten about how pretty she looks too, shame that Hollywood no longer does films like this. I adore this era when women wore the most beautiful clothes hats gloves everything was just so glamorous. ❤

As much as I love Madonna's Material Girl, I wanna know to what degree it was influenced by Marilyn Monroe's "Diamond's are a Girl's best Friends" vs Debbie Reynold's "Lady Loves". Just seems to me the image is all Marilyn, but the feminist substance is all Debbie?

Just look at our little Debbie Reynolds - cute as a button, so very pretty, lively and versatile. She could sing, dance, play comedy till you are rolling in the aisles with laughter and even beat the best in heavy drama. This Warner Archive excerpt is extraordinary for its gorgeous color and clarity and with Debbie in it, it becomes more precious and beautiful. A legend in the acting field, Debbie is not to be missed in The Unsinkable Molly Brown, The Catered Affair and the Broadway hit, Mary, Mary co-starring that genius of acting Barry Nelson and pretty Diane McBain as the other woman.

Not to speak of how she moves her hands!. There are three scenes where she shows how in control she is. First, she stumbles with one the dancers, when she dances back. She overcomes the obstacle and one does not notice it, almost. Then, the pearls necklace almost hits her face but she divinely avoids it. Then, she remembers to put the dress gown behind her body in the final scene, so that she can advance graciously in front of the row of men. All with an ironic smile. An accomplished actress.
Interesting to notice is as well how well she stands in front of the camera approaching her face, a distinction of the best actresses and actors. She takes the punch of the camera as if nothing.

The theme is an anti-feminist, riddled with the male clichés of the era. That said, I think she was an excellent actress with a comic streak and an accomplished dancer, I love how she moves her arms and shoulders.
My grand-father said that the greatest male dancer of all times was Fred Astaire because of his use of his arms while dancing. It is not easy to move the arms while dancing, as one has to be conscious of the foot steps and the four limbs all the time. Well, Debbie Reynolds knew how to use her legs, her arms and her whole body when dancing.
