Roughly $120K in my portfolio are in tech/TSLA stocks, can I get an advice on any other stocks that I can acquire to diversify my reserve across multiple markets while creating a comprehensive portfolio allocation that balances my concerns of risk aversion and returns that meet yearly inflation.

I've heard that index funds and ETFs provide diversified stock market exposure while spreading risk. I have over $800K in savings; What's the most effective strategy to allocate funds in my portfolio and generate profits?

Non dividend stocks are great, but then I think, "What will I do when I eventually have to time the market and sell?" Eventually it always leads back to dividend stocks or more specifically ETFs. When I'm retired I want my money working for me when I'm asleep. The goal, at least on my end, is to replace my current paycheque with my investments. Thus I'm willing to give a bit of upside in growth for regular pay outs.

I’ve tried investing in various things that didn't work out as I hoped. I'm now considering ETFs as a more reliable option. What are the best 5 ETFs for a rookie investor looking to invest a lump sum? let's say $500,000

I firmly believe that investors should maximize their capital's potential by keeping it invested, particularly in 2024, when market diversification is expected to increase. My plan is to allocate $350,000 of my savings into the stock market next year, with the ambitious goal of generating substantial returns and potentially reaching millions in 2024.

Before you start investing, it's crucial to understand the basics of investing, different asset classes (stocks, bonds, real estate, etc.), and the associated risks. are you investing for retirement, buying a home, or building an emergency fund? Your goals will help shape your investment strategy.

The market's direction can swiftly change, with indexes frequently transitioning from a bear market to a bull market precisely when the news is most negative and investor sentiment reaches its lowest point. It's tricky during election years.

Biggest lesson i learnt in 2024 in the stock market is that nobody knows what is going to happen next, so practice some humility and follow a strategy with a long term edge.

I'm curious, for someone with less than $150K to invest, how would you recommend we enter the market? I am open to study some traders and copy their strategy rather than investing myself and losing money emotionally. What's your take on this approach?

In 2007 I had $500k invested in the stock market. In 2008 the crash dropped it to $250k. I didn’t panic and sell but I was dumb enough to stop investing for over a year. By 2012 I got it all back. By the time I retired in 2014 it reached $700k. Because I had a pension I didn’t touch it except for emergencies and small luxuries. But I could no longer made substantial investments either. By 2021 the portfolio doubled to $2 million. I wish I could say I was an investing genius But all I did was invest in a few big ticket stocks like Google and Apple and the bulk of it in the S&P 500 tracking index fund. VFIAX. Long term the stock market pays and pays well if you can keep a level head

I think investors should always put their cash to work, especially In 2024, we'll start to see more market diversification. I'm hoping to invest about $350k of my savings in stocks this year. Hope to make millions this 2024.

Invest judiciously, keep a stop loss figure. Shuffle between debt and equity wherever the ratio goes too off your target. As for the target, I recommend a Ratio like this Debt % should be equal to your age in years. If you are 20, debt is 20%, reset in equity. If the market falls or rises drastically, your debt % will change, which you should rebalance to 20% and bring back equity to 80%. Thus you would have bought low or booked profit depending on if it was a crash or a bull run.

I was impressed by the recent economic data! Despite uncertainty around inflation and growing investor concerns, the U.S. stock market is at a crucial moment. The economy shows resilience, which could help stabilise Bitcoin. Interestingly, while crypto and the stock market are usually aligned, BTC and the Nasdaq have recently moved in opposite directions, both now showing signs of recovery. In just a few months, I’ve grown my $100k nest egg to $732k. Special thanks to "Caroline Suzan Olson" for her invaluable expertise in navigating this evolving financial landscape.

I was advised to diversify my portfolio among several assets such as stocks and bonds since this can protect my inherited portfolio of about $2.5m. I’m used to just buying and holding assets which doesn’t seem applicable to the current rollercoaster market plus inflation is catching up with my portfolio. I’m really worried about survival after retirement.

It was stupid of me to sell $76,000 worth of NVDA stocks without reinvesting. (Buying bonds or CDs is not for me). I’d rather stay 100% cash, or are there any other stocks that can 10x in 6 months? I have 180k ready to be reinvested..

I lost over $80k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. It took me over two years of being in the market, I'm really grateful I found one source to recover my money, at least $10k profits weekly. Thanks Katherine Slone

stock market is a scam. You really cannot make any money here. Do 401K for the employer match and put it in to one of these horrific long term funds with low overhead. The key is to get the employer match. A better solution is to have a spouse work for the govt. You get free health care for life, a pension, cannot be laid off. Tax payers are on the hook for your and you do not have to work hard at all. The the other person can invest with more risk and try to find the beginning of a up cycle.

Investing in a broad market index fund, such as VTI or one of the similar mutual funds, will add exposure to mid-cap and small-cap stocks, and also dilute the effects of changes in the largest holdings in the S&P 500. The return of total market index funds has been a little lower than the S&P 500, but I still prefer them over the S&P 500.

Having an adequate emergency fund will give you the ability to ride out market downturns.

One must also learn to ignore the financial porn that is everywhere, and to quit "chasing performance," as financial advisers call it. They, and especially you, do NOT have any knowledge of a hot stock or trendy investment. There are over 16,000 portfolio managers in the U.S., and any new information about a stock that you receive, they already know about, and have long ago factored it into the current market price. (Financial advisers call this the "semi-strong market theory.") Information that is not known to the public and that could affect the stock price is called "material inside information." Placing a trade using material inside information is a felony, punishable by a fine of $1 million and a prison sentence of ten years. Just sayin'.
