The Ukrainians could never win against Russia, it doesn't take rocketscientist to figure that out. In fact the only reason they ever thought they stood a chance was because the US (and its nuclear arsenal). The EU has been incapable from the beginning and Zelensky even said so. It was US INTEL announcing that Russia started this special military operations. A French high general and head of intel was sacked because he had not seen it coming..what was his name Vidaud or some. Prof. Roberts kindly gives the USA and the Europeans credit for wanting the best for Ukraine out of the negotiations. But the evidence of the last three years plainly shows that the USA and the Europeans don't give a flying fig for the welfare of Ukraine and its people.
They would see Ukraine utterly destroyed just to feed their own Russophobia. They don't care about Ukraine at all.

Even if Ukraine changes their constituion (again) and become a neutral state (again) - how can the russians trust that yet another switch will happen and they apply yet again for NATO membership (approved again by the US and most NATO countries)? I guess that Russia will have to take control of all of Ukraine to avoid future eruptions of hostilities.

I think we have to stop saying 'hopefully European leaders will come to their senses'. I think at this point it's nothing but unrealistic speculation, it won't happen.

Nonsense, Putin will not concede territory that is now constitutionally part of Russia. The five oblasts (including the Crimea that the Ukraine are still deluded enough to think are still part of Ukrainian territory) are the minimalist demands if Ukraine wants to reach a peace agreement, it being stated that Russia wìll take eight oblasts if the Ukraine will not come to terms.
