GBRf De-Icer fails at Oxted –73201 & 73213 laid over in Oxted Up Sidings on 27 December 2022

Following a couple of days of inactivity on the rails over the Christmas weekend a de-icing service was scheduled out of Tonbridge West Yard to traverse the East Grinstead, Caterham and Tattenham Corner branch lines. So I headed to Purley where it was due to pass through a number of times.

However, the service, 3Y07 0700 Tonbridge West Yard to Tonbridge West Yard hauled by 73213 “Rhodalyn” and 73201 “Broadlands”, stalled just north of Oxted and then was cancelled. So I headed down to Oxted where the consist was found parked up in the Up Sidings. According to the station staff, who kindly permitted me on to the deserted platforms, it had hit an object on the line just north of the station.
