Smoking Outside Amongst the Public

MEanwhile they're fine with weed and want to legalize it. I'm a cigar smoker and I've heard almost every single stupid anti smoking argument, best part? There isn't even one research that has the proof that smoking kills. My dad was a cigarette smoker, he started when he was 16. When he was 53 he got ill, this wasn't related to smoking. In the hospital they checked his lungs and they were not grey at all like they claim in the commercials. They said his lungs worked for 99,9%. I had a friend of mine who's a chain smoker; same story she went to a hospital because she was ill they checked her lungs and she said they're fine. It's all bullshit. These anti tobacco people are being paid in some form.

I do get that dirty look from people when I light up a cigar. One time I was smoking at a terrace of a restaurant, some idiot told me "Hey can you turn that off?", I replied with "I've just lit it up". He wanted to impress his girlfriend by acting tough and he said "Well smoke faster then!". I got a little bit angry and I told him "Excuse me? Are you getting cute with me? I don't like the face of your girlfriend either and I don't tell her to sit somewhere else? Why don't you just shut the fuck up." He got scared and didn't say a word back, I told him "If you can convince the manager to let me smoke indoors I will switch place". One of the waiters heard everything and she said that I'm allowed to smoke and he don't has the right to tell me if I can or not. If someone approached me in a respectful way I would might consider it, if the person has ill I would not smoke it.

Best part? He was eating a shitload of meat and drinking alcohol, as if that is healthy lol. I did have positive reactions from other cigar smokers or from people who had a relative who smoked them. I was approached once by a dude who asked me what I was smoking. I thought oh here we go again. I was surprised when he said the smell of the cigar reminds him of his grandpa who passed away.

Nowadays we have a pussyfied society, everyone feels offended and entitled. Everyone had an opinion which they try to force on you, if you don't agree than you're some racist or something-denier. It's a shitty society. Even when I didn't smoke I didn't care if people smoked around me. Who am I to tell others what they should do.

I've had a few good experiences smoking my pipe in public and a few bad ones I was sitting smoking a old English blend on a bench and a elderly chap walked over and complimented me on the smell of pipe tobacco

I work at a Renaissance faire here in Connecticut, and while smoking isn't allowed on the grounds, nobody seems to care when it's pipe smoke! Cigarettes, cigars and weed have to be smoked off the premises in the parking lot or designated areas, but pipe smokers just wander around puffing lovely-smelling smoke, and I've never seen anyone complain about it. I've taken up the habit myself recently, and as a cigar smoker I find pipes much more mellow and easier to enjoy than any other form of tobacco.

I've been smoking my pipe for over 25 years, since my early 20's. I also smoke the occasional cigar. But I LOATHE cigarettes. My childhood was ruined because my mother cared only about her damn cigarettes, and nothing else. She'd steal the little bit of birthday money my uncles would give me, any money I made by working odd jobs, whatever she could get her hands on, all so she could smoke 2 packs a day. I'll never, ever like the smell of cigarettes. But, I've never heard a complaint about any of the tobaccos I smoke. The butter rum blend I get at my pipe shop smells so, so good. When I go the local Renaissance Faire, I never take my pipe, because one of the first places I visit is the hookah tent for some quality shisha and a beer!

I just did my first public pipe smoke this weekend at a birthday gathering (smoking was permitted) and people were very intrigued. I even had a few people ask me about it and commented on the wonderful aroma it was putting out. I owe you another debt of gratitude for giving these lessons.

I'm only 2-3 months into it and have never had tongue burn, bad taste after cleaning my pipe and even got to the point where my wife will sit next me as I smoke because I continue to practice your methods every time I smoke.

The general public associates smoking especially for teens as something negative. These comments are very encouraging and hopefully I’ll have one or two people approach me and ask about the hobby. Hopefully, I can also share my interest to people in a positive way.

as someone who grew up around smokers and has always kinda been anti-smoking, i was definitely the type you described in another video as being anti-cigarette specifically while having allowances for cigars and pipes. my paternal grandparents smoked a pack each every day and they always smoked indoors. their walls were yellowed and some of their wooden furniture was stcky with tar. ive never been a fan of cigars much because of the smell, but i almost never see people smoking cigars so i really dont mind. i'd never say anything to smokers as im of the opinion its their bodies, i can just move away or upwind of them.

Pipes on the other hand i never really saw anyone smoke ever but when i did i remember liking the smell. as a result, i always thought pipe smoking was much more palatable and a bit "classier" than the other methods of smoking. I've seen estate pipes at flea markets and antique shops for many years and always thought about grabbing one to clean up and finally try it, but my dislike of smoking in general combined with my not wanting to develop a nicotine habit always scared me away.

well, i finally decided to pull the trigger this last week after a few months of research (including your videos) and a couple chats with other pipe smokers online. i got two estates to clean up as a little weekend project and two missouri meerschaum pipes, a cob and a hardwood, along with some tobacco from a local tobacconist. I've found i really enjoy it and even my boyfriend who has expressed some concerns about health issues asks me to come in the living room and have a bowl of a local blend that smells like pina colada while we watch tv or a movie.

I think of cigarette smoking as a yucky habit because of the butts left and a horrible smell I think if people want to smoke them that's their choice

Pipe smoking is old school

I'm 18 just found my fathers old pipe he basically gave it to me. And right now I've watched like 10 of your videos. And I'm at the point where I go like let's try this. I was never aganinst smoking just didn't like the smell of cheap ass cigarettes. With qality ones I never had a problem. But what was holding me back from trying it is the health hazards. But with pipe smoking you don't inhale it so it's really just the flavour with minimal side effects. Any tips for my first blend to buy?

Ive recently started pipe smoking. Ive got a couple of barrel briar pipes that cost that xost about £15 each. I then bought some supermarket pipe tobacco. Special Virginia i think it was called - it tasted like soap and nearly put me off pipe smoking - so i bought an aromatic blend from the pipe shop in Edinburgh called Enigma and its wonderful.

My wife and i were recently staying up near Loch Lomond and we were having a drink in a pub called The Clachan Inn - it's the oldest licensed pub in Scotland - and i decided to sit on the bench outside the pub and have a smoke at my pipe just to see what peoples reactions would be.

Some folk looked down at me with disdane, but i could tell most of the others - especially the cigarette smokers - were enjoying it.

So im going to keep some aromatics handy if im taking my pipe anywhere in the future. 👍

That was great on many levels. Thoughtfulness exemplifies class, not catering to ppl that have different perception of a given topic. And its very good suggestion - aromatic in public. Except in WA public smoking of any kind is illegal AND WA bans citizens from delivery of tobbacco to private address'. We need a tobbacco "tea party". 😂

I smoke aromatics with a little Latakia or Kentucky fire cured or some c&d loose cigar leaf so I ain’t smoking something boring around people plus they smell something good. Win both ways 😉 just enough in aromatics where I can taste it and it doesn’t effect the smell of the aromatic. Generally I just smoke lane hgl if it’s not a mix of my own. Generally for me aromatics are boring when all you taste is toppings but no tobacco which most are exactly like that. It’s a great compromise for both the smoker who wants to taste tobacco and for the people around the smoker not offending them with something they won’t like the smell of.

Had a dude walk up to me at a family friendly bar that allows smoking. I was smoking on my pipe and he just said “there are kids here, think about it” then he walked past a bar that was 6 feet away from me past 4+ people smoking cigarettes and said nothing to them. It completely blew my mind that he had the unmitigated gall to try to shame me for smoking a pipe and didn’t care about the cigarettes…

I'm at an age where if they don't like that I smoke a pipe or a cigar, they can go someplace else. I've gotten to where I just don't care what other people think about me. Life's too short, and I'm not getting any younger.

I have been a regular cigarette smoker for 35 years or so. I have been an occasional cigar smoker for about 25 years or so. I have been a pipe smoker for about a month.

A cigarette is purely a nicotine delivery device. A cigar is an indulgence that can replace the smoking of 5-10 cigarettes in a sitting. Smoking a pipe is 30 minutes of deep thought.

Anyone who has ever been fine setting around a campfire. Anyone who has ever been fine sitting around those nasty citronella ant bug candles. Anyone who grills using charcoal. Even if they don’t care for smoking and think it’s evil. When they experience the aroma of a good aromatic from a pipe, I believe they genuinely like it, even if they won’t admit it. Now it’s all about breaking down barriers…

Grace a la pipe j'ai pue arrettez la cigarette, je ne fume que une fois par semaine la pipe et c'est agréable car mes l'odeur que la pipe laisse dans une pièce n'esy pas désagréable comme la cigarette ou le cigar, ma femme a remarquer cela aussi

I will say that my wife enjoys being around me when I smoke aromatics. Especially the more vanilla, butterscotch and caramel heavy flavors. She’s even asked for a puff now and then. If I’m smoking a stout English or vapor, I’m banished to the yard while smoking and have to brush my teeth before she’ll kiss me again.

This is the good thing about pipe smoking. It smells good to even those who dont partake. I couldn't do the same thing with my favorite cigar lol.
