Hi Tony great video! But i have a follow up question, how can i export only my inbox received email addresses? Like lets say I've received 1000 emails and i just want a list of the email addresses that emailed me. Is that possible? Thanks!

I'm very upset because I did all of this and although it worked fine transferring, when I went to my gmail and deleted everything to free up space ( which was the whole reason for this, it deleted my emails in takeout too. Wth? Why? Can someone help me with this please?

this is such a pain in the ass. i don't get why gmail doesn't just make a free plugin that downloads all emails you select as pdf. wtf

I find the browsing interface of ThunderBird not as convenient and clear as gmail. It separates every email rather than arranges them in a hierarchal order like Gmail does. Do you happen to know anyway to achieve that?

If you're on a mac, just import the mbox from apple mail. Don't need any special tools or plugins.

My import export MG tool doesn’t give all the options. Nothing for import inbox files. Mine says v14.0.1. Do I need a different one? My thunderbird is 115.8.1

Hi. I don't understand how Thunderbird works. After I sign in to Thunderbird it automatically loads all my emails from Gmail. So basically I wouldn't need to import them cause I alreay have them there. BUT... If I delete them in the original gmail account, do they get deleted from Thunderbird as well? I want to free up all the gmail space.

TBird has a mbox limit of 4GB

I just downloaded thunderbird and the importexporttools add on is apparently not compatible with this version of thunderbird. Any ideas?

Tony, I will complete this process soon. I was wondering if there is a way to delete all emails from the gmail server after I download all and get them into thunderbird? I was also wondering if I can have all future gmail messages auto download to local drive and delete from server?

This doesn't actually work though. All it does is download junk like your email inbox preferences. There aren't actual emails in the files in that folder. The other problem is, there's no way to open the files that are downloaded either. Nothing is a .eml file, and that's what it would have to be in order to be readable.

Is there a simple way to upload the MBOX to a 2nd gmail account to be used as a backup or if the original account is getting close being full. Been searching and can't find the answer. I use Windows 7

I use Outlook 365. I've nearly filled up the 15gb of free space in Gmail. Does exporting the contents of my Gmail inbox mean that the space will be cleared up?

Looks like the original emails remain on gmail, too. Like you're not downloading and removing them from the online gmail platform- is that correct?
