Thank you for illustrating what Paul's vision is like I always wondered, it reminds me of looking through a straw

I'm not blind, but I do see the crazy colors and static just by closing my eyes and covering them with a sleep mask
It doesn't quite look like the static matthew showed in the video, its way more colorfull, and its beautifull

Besides not being able to actually see, this must be incredibly difficult to deal with. Would it be easier to be completely blind (total darkness)?

So just curious? When you go to sleep is the static constant? It’s amazing that you would be able to handle that daily.

My first thought was, “that is loud!” Soo much sensory input for having less sight! Do you ever just want a break from all that input??

I have visual snow. But I’ve had it so long I forget it exists unless I’m in the dark. And I’m like “oh why does it look like that” till I remember. 😂

I would never open my eyes again. Obviously this happens slowly over time, so his brain has gotten used to it and it’s not as overwhelming, but good lord

I thought about it deeply. There might be a way to explain mostly anything to a blind person. My idea is that there is no way of telling how one thing looks like or even how it might feel by touching it , aand then jump to conclusions.(to a blind person by birth the concept of form is nonexsistant ). Not every person is gifted with the ability to "feel" or "taste" certain color for example. But if you have it than you know what Im saying when I tell you that I feel "blue" or "light- blue" - (weightless,free,independant,dreamy). Its not the color itself that generates the corresponding feeling (how it looks). It is more like the vibe that you initially felt as a child by looking at the sky without the need to give meaning to it. Just you being REALLY in the moment is what makes certain things feel unique and therefore you truelly get the ultimate expirience that it has to offer. The problem for us adults in this era is that we eventually lost that ability (the craving to be a child-like if that makes sense). We became senseless and more logic driven. So long story short - I think that blind people never actually lose that ability but gradually enchance it with time. For them the only thing that you need to explain is the CONCEPT of the thing it self so they can connect it with everything else that goes around it (put it in its rightful place as a piece of puzzle for example ) and as a result they get the full picture.

idk if it's my ADHD but I always have static when closing my eyes and slightly with open eyes as well, also I am too aware of it right now lmao

I did wonder what blind people would see in their dreams. Like would they see barely anything or would they be able to see.

Paul, do you still see the static/fireworks when you close your eyes? I'm a seeing person, but I see fireworks and flashing colours sometimes when I close my eyes and I'm laying in bed in the dark.

That immediately triggered a migraine for me (one of my disabilities). I hope you aren’t living with constant pain from the eye strain 🥺

I saw a man walking into walmart today with a white cane. He had a red section at the bottom so I knew from Paul's explanation that he had some sight. Thanks for the info!

i feel so bad for u i have same thing but my periphral vision is can see but i dont have central vision so blur and static in middle but there are people that see worse than me Man i feel bad

I only searched this because I have a friend who is legally blind but has low light vision only in one eye 👁️. She has a hard time trying to describe to me what she can see which fluctuates from cloudy to clear haze! It’s crazy! In a completely dark room with no light she doesn’t see black!😮She sees this grey haze! She lost all vision in one eye. If she closes both eyes 👀 like sleeping 😴 she doesn’t see black. I close my eyes and I see black like all humans. I am so confused and now she is when I ask her all the time why she doesn’t see black! Some please explain?
