For the inevitable Frenchies that bang on about their wee little FT's being [somehow] better than the MK.IV:

The FT was chronically underarmed (it could have 1 short slow firing gun or 1 MG; not both 😂), had no credible advantage in armour or speed, was painfully top heavy and poorly designed for cross country slogging, had a TC that was chronically overtasked, and was being produced by French industry... which wasn't much good at mass producing anything 😂 .

The MK.IV was designed for and was the best Tank present in the muddy, cratered hellscape of the western front, and its designers were from the Navy, and thus knew far more about gun turrets and their disadvantages* better than anyone in the contemporary army or on the myriad of confused French R&D teams.

*The Landships Committee trialed a Tank with a basic turret before choosing the MK.I we all know (before the FT even existed). "Little Willie" (a joke aimed at the German Kaiser's crown prince) couldn't handle the test terrain, and they went with a design that could, the MK.I, which presented an ideal rhomboidal track profile and low center of gravity; ideal for the trench strewn muddy hellscape of France & Belgium.

The MK.IV also had a less overtasked Commander, about ten to sixteen times more firepower per-Tank than the FT, the ability to transport material atop or behind her to bridge enemy trenches for the troops behind, and could actually traverse the terrain needed to reach the enemy 😂 .

How am I only seeing this now? Its glorious! Even more glorious than St. Gloriana!
