So why not just poke the needles completely through three times across the top and tape around? I just don’t see why this video says not too. I’ve also seen people take one big chunk out of the top and then use the tape.

Most liquid cultures come in a 10 ml syringe, so your able to inoculate 16 packs of rice with one syringe? Or did you mean 6 ml per bag?

I have better luck with a hole puncher to make the hole for fae by making a crease in the top middle and It will make 2 perfect holes that you can then cover with micro tape.

does rice packs have to have pure rice as in my country the wholegrain rise has 2% oil in the packs. would that 2% oil stop the mycelium from growing or kill it.

Smells like cooked broccoli, or sweet wet yuck, DO NOT OPEN. Put on gloves, Run to your outside garbage and discard immediately. Wash hands, put on gloves, iso your hands, spray lysol, wipe down surrounding areas with isopropyl.
OR......BUY A BAG OF CLEAN GRAIN!!!!

why would wearing gloves be more sterile than washing your hands? it seems like that would only potentially introduce new contams rather than reduce any risk. I don't think most nitrile gloves come sealed, let alone sterilized, you'd need to wash the gloves as thoroughly as you'd wash your hands

Lysol is not necessary when using 70% isopropyl alcohol. IF you insist on Lysol, use it BEFORE the isopropyl alcohol.
