2024 iPad Mini 7 Hands-On and Impressions!

60hz is still a deal breaker for me for a device which costs $800 aud 😭 use my iPad for illustration and drawing on a display with 60hz doesn’t feel as smooth as 120hz.

As you a a reference in Mac product, I gonna put my comment here. I felt very concern about jelly scrolling. What i really dont understand is how it is possible serious people like you can ignore when the jelly scroll was a real issue.
As some of us plan to use iPad mini for reading books, there was the time where jelly scrolling was a big issue. I mean while you have a screen full with text, like an ebook or an article, the jelly scrolling was highly noticable, as thread of parallel lines was messed a lot. I find it quite weird and uncomfortable to see videos with people scroll a random image with no parallel thread and arguing there was no jelly scroll before. I m. pretty disappointed that even MacRumors didn't get informed about what the problem was really about.
Anyhow, I saw no actual jelly scroll test on text with the new iPad Mini and it s quite a pity.

I still like my Mini iPad 5, have a 6…….I hate how they moved the touch button, just why in the F did they put it on the top.

Those already have mini6 may skip buy new, dont think AI a big thing to upgrade. Maybe wait the next mini since possible oled screen and AI being more perfect later.

Also those who want sim tray should pass, since mini7 use esim.

Consider buy if wanting a pocket-easy carry ipad, not having old mini.

1yr old nerfed bionic chip, the rest is a 5yr old tech standard. 3yrs the wait, but still ask for todays worth of the price you can get. Apple sheeps defend, Apple will do again the bare minimum nxt update. The cycle continues.😢

I was really looking forward to this for the past few days but having a non OLED 120hz on ANY screen in 2024 is a deal breaker for me. I can't even understand why they didn't slim down the bezels is beyond me 🤡

I upgraded from the 6 to the 7. Main reason which no one seems to mention too much is the storage. 512GB. Still not as big as I would like but its better than 256GB. It's great, the iPad mini fits in my crossbody bag or coat pocket. Holds all my kindle books, films, music, plus with Cellular when out and about its the perfect companion to carry with you everywhere. Just wish they would make a magic keyboard, mouse case to go with it and a 1TB model.

Wait for the new iPad Mini for 3 years and this is what they give us?

Jelly scrooling is a hygiene issue. Consumers should not have to put with it in the frist place so please don't normalise it.

I upgraded for a decent trade in value as well. No sense in keeping an older version and try to trade it in another few years! I liked the mini 6, but with trade in, I got the 7mini for $230 after trade in! I like the smaller phone, but the Pro iPad is too big. Mini is perfect middle ground!

I see the iPad Mini as a device designed for children, which explains the edges, fewer accidental touches on the screen and an easy-to-hold size

Upgrade its worth it! You will want the new chip and pencil with apple intelligence. You wont have to upgrade for yrs. Portable!!!

I own the 6 and bought the 7…The 7 feels like my 3 year old 6. Many times I couldn’t tell the difference. DO NOT UPGRADE. 60hz display totally sucks after using pros for a while.

I take my mini 6 along with me almost everywhere I go. Having the (almost) entire iPad experience in such a compact form is so useful for me. Does virtually everything I need it to, and I wouldn’t want to have a bigger device to get those other few things.

Does it fits previous gen 6 ipad mini case?

I don’t need it but I want it.

This mini 7 pad is not one I would want to keep six years, elite chips around the corner, I'll wait another year?

The size of the Mini makes it ideal as an e-reader. I’ve always enjoyed the iPad for this use case for the ability to make highlights in the text and leave notes

Today I saw it live and I saw the effect jelly scrolling.

I am replacing my 7 year old iPad Pro 10.5 with the new iPad mini. Also considered the iPad Air, but was very intrigued by the small iPad. It is so small that I can put it in the pocket of my suit jacket and at the same time large enough to work efficiently on.

What game are you playing?

I upgraded to a 13’ iPad Air. I kept my mini for reading books, but I’m happy with my air for reading music and doing other work.

I wonder if my usage of apple intelligence on my iPhone and future iPad pro and other macs will show up and benefit me when I slide over to my mini.

No 120hz is criminal in 2024.

I use the mini as a backup instrument panel on my airplane yoke.

Oled ProMotion is a must.

Wouldn't be so stupid to buy this marginal upgrade even if it was half-price.

60hz is a deal breaker for an iPad that's gonna be used for gaming. They could have atleast put 90hz on this mini. That's sad. Better get the Ipad Air M2 2024. I have the mini 6 and with minimal upgrade, I don't think it's worth it given that huge price.

Up to $230 trade-in value for iPad Mini 6 isn’t mentioned by you or most reviewers - so for $269 net an increase in RAM & storage, new one year warranty & at least an additional iOS version or two down the line makes a compelling future proofing argument

I'm fairly disappointed. With all of the new tech specs of their other offerings, Apple chose to do the minimum on the latest Mini - just enough of a push so it could operate Apple Intelligence and, of course, so you had to buy the new pencil pro because the old pencil won't work. Same dismal battery life from what I can tell. Certainly not enough of an upgrade to make me upgrade from the 6. Disappointing.

Apple has reopened the preorder because of low sale. Hahahaha...upgrade sucks. Battery run dry way much faster.

I wonder if the biggest market for the ipad mini is businesses like chic fil a that use ipad minis to take orders and such

Don't upgrade. I bought the new one and it overheated to the point where I couldn't even hold it in my hand. I returned it and got a new one and that one overheated too, so I returned it and giving up on this new Mini.

I feel the vessels are good for grip. Great product all around!

I'm currently using ipad mini 5. Not sure its worth the upgrade, but ipad Air M2 kinda good option. From what i see, ipad mini 7 doubled the RAM which means future proof and longer software support. Idk
