Professor David G. Evans is a British scientist teaching in China. In a meeting with Xi Jinping, Prof. Evans discovered that they have something in common when the Chinese president revealed that he, too, had studied chemical engineering. Something else they share is an interest in the popularization of science. As Prof. Evans explains, “President Xi often stresses that in science, innovation, and popularization are equally important, like the two wings of an aeroplane.”
