I pray to God that Puerto Rico NEVER NEVER NEVER becomes a state. I pray that we got back to our agriculture our culture to remember who we are and where we come from to fight for our freedom. We don't need the crumbs the U.S gives us. We can be free and sustain ourselves.

I understand the young and the history they be presented with.
But we use to have a great economy.
Puerto Rico was on top even tough we was not a State.
Thanks to the 936 tax exemption for foreign companies.
Every one had money and food in the table.
But Rosello father destroy our economy by ending the 936.
like crazy voters voted for Trump.
crazy Boricuas voted for Rosello.
it use to be free hospital for those who can not paid.
that was gone.
Rosello kill our economy.
and we continue making the wrong choices today.
I feel sad for my Boricuas.
very sad.
we don't use our brains.

Puerto Rico has several problems to conquer, before it becomes a U.S.A. State.

1–Not all, but many Americans classify Puerto Ricans as non-white. The same goes for Latinos; they are all classified as brown people.
2–Right now we have a president, Trump, which has Nazi tendencies and believe in white Supremacy.
3–Puerto Rico is a poor country, in other words, a burden economically to the U.S.A.j
4–Puerto Rico has a higher population, I think than Rhode Island, therefore, it will have more congressmen than some states.
5–English will be the official language, and many of us, even if bilingual, do want Spanish to be our vernacular. Most of us, probably all of us, have a Spanish ancestor who planted our love for Spain and its language.

It is a matter of identity:
For example:
—my paternal grandfather came to P.R. in1880 from Mallorca, Spain
—he married my paternal grandmother, whose father was a gallego
—my maternal grandfather was the son of a couple from Gran Canaria
—my maternal grandmother was the grand- daughter of a Spaniard who came to the island from Madrid during the Carlist ‘s War.
Where do I fit? I also have Italian, French, Portuguese, Celt, and
Basques ancestors.
My granddaughters, are also British, Irish and Scottish. Where we all identify? The culture that prevails in my house, is the Puerto Rican culture. Why, because it was my duty as Abuela, to instill in my children and grandchildren the love for my small, but beautiful island, to teach them our history and also teach them of our ancestors.

I am sure that there must be a Taino male or female , way back, if not, yo soy Boricua de sangre y corazon. That the identity of my soul.

BECOMING A STATE WOULD BE THE DEATH TOLL OF THE ISLAND . THE BLIND WANTS TO BE SUPPORTED BY THE BENEFITS , BUT IN REALITY IS THE FEAR THEY SOLD US OF LOSING THAT DEPENDENCE WHAT KEEP US SUBJUGATED . ALL THE MONEY THAT GOES TO THE STATES FROM PR IS ASTRONOMICAL IT REEKS IN BILLIONS OF DOLLARS , WHILE IN RETURN GIVES THE ISLAND SCRAPS . WE ARE SUPPORTING THEM , IT'S BEEN LIKE THAT FOR OVER A HUNDRED YEARS . THEY SABOTAGED ANY THOUGHTS OF INDEPENDENCE BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO GIVE UP THEIR CASH COW . THE POLICIES THEY MADE IS TO MAKE PUERTORICANS LEAVE THE ISLAND , THEY WANT PUERTO RICO BUT WITHOUT PUERTORICANS .

Now that there’s a GOP trifecta, and given that PR is assumed to lean blue if it had statehood, it is likely not going to happen with this most recent legislation. Perhaps it can be done through some compromise, like splitting eastern Oregon and eastern Washington into a separate state.

Puerto Rico should never be a state!!.. United States is NOT a free nation when the fact that a ethnicity can be written as less than into law…Puerto Rico honestly should become an independent island.. It won’t be better for them to be part of a place that hates them & their kind.. The whole reason the cost of living keeps going up & no one is doing anything about it is so you can’t have a nice life off Welfare.. The United States is NOT a country that cares about its ppl if you become a state to have Welfare they will drive the price for rent & homeownership through the roof so you still can’t afford it..

I’m hoping that ppl learn the way to solve racism is not to force the racist to give to you.. It’s be thriving independently of them.. ❤🎉

Contrary to what stupid MAGA puertoricans think, Republicans are the ones that oppose Puerto Rico from becoming a state because they think that, that would create two more Democrats US Senators. And thus, it would push the balance in favor of the Democratic party to control the US Senate.

It’s unfortunate but the USA has a history of exploiting the people of Puerto Rico and the island as a whole for its own benefit. They’ve proven over and over to not care for the people but only from what they can take from the island. I hope that things can change but with the current leadership, I don’t see it happening..
