ОтветитьThey NEED to add the newer 3.6l V6 in these new gti's ffs. It's in the passat gt but not the gti is bananas to me. They used to share it back in mk3 days with the 3.2l vr6.

ОтветитьThis is making me laugh out loud for real. Allot of my colleques in the Netherlands are from South Africa and we all love our Golfs. Last time with the VW post i laughed when i saw all the South Africans reply. Specially because they told me how all their friends loved all the GTI's. Now theres another post and again i see the South Africans! Greetings my Afrikaans friends!

ОтветитьI was one of the first people to drive an R32 in the UK, very underwhelming car, made a nice noise but typical MK4 Golf chassis and not really that fast.

Ответитьkinda warm feeling knowing my car has the same power and number of cylinders are this vr6. back when that was new, my car had like 40% of the power. it does get smoked off the line though because it can't launch and loses a good second and a half from that.

Ответить20+ years on, the mk4 .:R32 for my money is still one of the best reasonably priced performance cars ever made. It's everything a classic drivers car should be and nothing that's unnecessary or excessive. And that exhaust note is one of if not the best stock V6 exhaust notes by a wide margin. One of the very few cars where an exhaust change isn't an upgrade in sound/note.

ОтветитьI'm not sure if you have switched off the ESP. After holding down the ESP button, a signal sounds and a message appears saying that the driving aids are deactivated. Only this way the differential lock ist fully active !!!

ОтветитьTuning can make the traction much better on a mk7 gti. I have custom SP traction control and boost by gear in my is38 gti and it does mid 12s on the street with 540 tw all-seasons. 0-60 in the high 4s with no rollout. That's at 6000 feet elevation too lol

ОтветитьDamn, I miss my MK4 Gti. Wanted the R32 so badly, but never happened. It needed a few mods, like arb and tuned suspension for better handling then drove really nice. Imo, the last best designed Golf that will continue to beiconic far into the future. Newest Golfs look ok-ish but their design cues simply blend into forgotten time and don't seem them as timeless.
MK1/MK2 and MK4 took them positions.
God that R32 sounds sweet, who cares about speed though does a banging job
Predictably Matt's putting the rolling race result down to torque, when in reality it's probably down to the lower drivetrain losses of the FWD and the fact that the R32 is probably not making anywhere near its original 240bhp.
