Time to make the OpenDAW project :D
ОтветитьGreat stuff Woody. 👍👍👍❤️
ОтветитьEnjoyed this very much. Hope you can dive deeper into this with the components needed for the future. Thank you for your time and effort, much appreciated. How is your new location coming along?
ОтветитьI love Reaper, myself.
ОтветитьThe Steinberg Pro 24 on my Atari 1040ST back in 1988. Good time! 😄
ОтветитьPersonally I use a combination of Korg Gadget on an iPad and Cubase Elements. I generally use Cubase for mixing, Gadget is my arrangement tool. Most of my projects start in Gadget and get finished in Cubase. The workflow is very different, when I work with Cubase from scratch the end result becomes different as when I start in Gadget. In Cubase I mainly use the Reface DX and Volca FM, and the fairlight CMI iPad app that I record the audio from. Ableton I can’t get to grips with, Live Lite is limited to only 8 tracks and 8 scenes, too limited compared to Cubase Elements. For me, Gadget fills the role of Ableton in the arrangement process.
ОтветитьLove Ableton live
ОтветитьGreat video... a good explanation for laymen like me. I think "DAW" and "DOOR" only get confused by you west country accent people 😂
ОтветитьThere are also many great FOSS DAWs not mentioned. Even though Audacity is not a full fledged DAW, I believe it's Free and Open Source Software
Ответить🇨🇦 What is a DAW? Simply put, it is a D_on't A_nnoy W_oody record mode hahaha. Nice DAW introduction and great for new musicians wanting some understanding of recording/editing audio/midi software. Nice presentation as always Woody. 🍁
ОтветитьI use Reaper too.
ОтветитьTwo track, and then four track reel to reels were recording devices of my age. Learning to bounce 2 or three tracks to one track to free up 2 or 3 more tracks. Cousin of a friend of mine had an 8 track reel to reel. That was like guitar heaven in those days. Then playing mixing engineer to mix songs down to cassettes to play for friends.
Hours and years of enjoyment. No record sales to report.
It's nice to see someone like you explain the basics of DAWs. I just sold my hardware synths (kept the JD-Xi) and switched completely to soft synths. :-)
Might be a good solution for you until you have built your house.
You are right, ones you started and learn how to use some DAW, you don't want to switch, it is almost like Windows vs Linux. :-D
ОтветитьHi Woody, and thanks again for another great video. Have you ever tried Cakewalk by Bandlab? I started from scratch with it a couple of years ago and I've grown to love it. It's fully functional, and the best bit is, it's FREE! I'd be interested to hear your comments.
ОтветитьI have found my best song ideas come from using Scaler 2 with almost any DAW. The problem comes in when I start "producing" too early in the process.
ОтветитьHi Woody,
Great video. I started with Studio one and stuck with it, Pro version, but not subscription. For me mostly a platform to organise all the VSTs etc. But plenty of it's own content to keep you happy. I spotted that Session Guitar software you were using and just bought NI Electric Sunburst Deluxe as a result. What a lovely tool that is. All the best, Andy..
Ok Woody. I had to give you a thumbs down because of the sudden ending of the video.
ОтветитьBest DAW explanation I have seen!!!! Thank you, I plan on sharing it with my students.
ОтветитьI have FL studio lololol
ОтветитьMuLab is pretty cool
ОтветитьGreat overview!
ОтветитьWell explained and presented. Thank you!
Ответитьyou are the only one who wrote Digital Work Station....the rest got thumbs down for not doing so....... i come from a background of acronyms....and it is very important to state the acronyms meaning before any presentation....instead of trying to sound smart............you got thumbs up for sure !!! great video
