you should be marking up material, because at some point that extra money goes to replacing tools like brushes and rollers. What it seems like you have is a job, not a business. In order to have and build a business you need to be making more than that per day.

It's pretty much the way I approach too... except that when I subtract the cost of goods & my business expenses (even if it's only internet, cell phone and auto insurance), the customer should understand that it's just the cost of doing business. 👍

100$ a gallon and materials plus 15%. then give a 10% discount. gets the job everytime.

I think you nailed it pretty good. You have to think of all the steps it takes to do a job and all the paint and sundries you will use and add it to the cost. You have to take in to consideration that you will need to cover your most valuable tool and that’s your vehicle. Make sure your making a profit because your gonna put the miles on it. Not sure if you would agree but if I’m painting stained trim and it’s going to be white, automatically that’s 3 coats minimum. 1 coat primer and 2 coats finish. Great content.
