I thought this video was great. I don’t think you need to name it “Women’s Guide to smart car buying.” Simply name it “Guide to smart car buying”. Thanks, Chevy Dude!

I would like to add my "2 cents" here, if thats ok.
1 - If you don't feel good about the dealership, the sales people, or the vehicles they have, just tell them they are only one of several stops you are making to find a vehicle. Then leave. If you want to be as courteous as possible, ask for a print out of whichever vehicle they have that interests you the most, then leave.

2 - Do what I do, TYPE OUT YOUR LIST OF QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS ON A PIECE OF PAPER, and make at least 2 copies. One for you, and one for the salesperson helping you out.

3 - ASK IF YOU CAN TAKE THE CAR FOR A FIELD TRIP DRIVE (this usually means about an hour). Or..........if you have GOOD CREDIT, many dealerships will let you take the vehicle home overnight.......so you can actually drive it around town, the highway, and legitimately sleep on it overnight. Just be SURE your current insurance will COVER your use of this vehicle for 24 hours......just in case.

4 - Ask the dealership if they have a return policy, what it is, and how they go about the process of returns, if they accept returns.
If you DO end up buying the vehicle, before you sign anything........GET THE RETURN POLICY IN PRINT AND SIGNED BY THE DEALERSHIP MANAGER, ASST MANAGER, and SALES PERSON HELPING YOU.

-------------------------------------------------

One thing I like to do, is RENT the car I'm interested in buying, and drive it over the weekend. That way I'm getting to drive the vehicle to see if it fits me and my needs, BEFORE I go spend a lot of time at the deelership.

A lot of states now have Lemon Laws, where you CAN return a vehicle if its got manufacturers defects. Most dealers will give you 30-60 days for a return WITH CERTAIN RESTRICTIONS, such as the mileage being under 200.

Lots of dealerships have had to literally go honest in order to get business and keep it, with how things have gotten in the economy.
So you can also you that to your advantage, as long as they don't realize what you are doing. Even if they do, they should comply with reasonable requests in order to make a sale.

Never work with a salesperson, I do give credit to the salesperson who I spoke with but I immediately then demand politely to speak with the sales manager. They are welcome to sit with us but I do all my negotiating with the sales manager. It has saved me so much time/grief.

I just don't understand why a person just can't walk into a dealership and get an honest deal (with no games on getting over on the customer) and drive out with everything they want and the lowest price in their vehicle in less than 20 minutes?
