the one reason holding me back from a new car is the lack of manual. i love manuals

Rented one in New Zealand for two weeks. What struck me was the build quality is very high. I am a conservative driver, therefore fuel economy was remarkable. The car had the base wheels and tires. The car needs more rubber, so spec alloys. As a city car, it was outstanding and was surprising competent on the highway at the speed limit.

The new design is an epic fail. 😔

In the uk it is not a cheap car, performance in a town or city is ok but on motorway not so much , why do manufacturers think by putting in an underpowered engine equates to better economy etc, if you regularly carry more than 2 people they use more fuel, because you have to use gears more to keep up to speed.

"Who cares about the hump in the floor"? I would say that most will. Manufacturers have been making seats go down flat for years now. Look at the Diahatsu Sirion from 18 years ago. Lovely car but completely ruined by the boot not being flat and the lack of sliding rear seats as in the Suzuki Ignis.

The speed recognition system is defective. Suzuki refuse to acknowledge this and hide behind legislation to avoid dealing with this dangerous feature as it would cost them too much to fix it. It cannot recognise all signs and Suzuki acknowledged that it will not work in all road situations yet refuse to offer a fix. The Dealers are equally complicit, keeping silent about this feature during the entire sales process. These features make the car, the MOST irritating thing to drive and I really would not recommend this car to anyone.

Researching for my young sons first car - which these days has to be auto. Anyway, the (not so implied) gutlessness of this 1.2 hybrid concerns me a little - based on my perception that it's safer to be able to keep up than to not have any capacity to overtake... and in up-hill situations, force people into possibly unsafe overtaking situations. So, my question is, is there a 2020 onwards car that has a bit of guts (clearly not WRX guts), but a little fun as reliable ... that you could suggest?

What an annoying, irritating, person. Put me off watching. Who got this irritant to do the review. Terrible.

Analog gauges seem unfinished. RPM gauge has metal rim around it while speedometer does not. It may be nitpicking but it looks cheap. I still drive 2006 1.5 swift 102hp. This new model seems like a serious downgrade in terms of power and driving experience. 20 Hp less than 18 yrs old car.

Mentioning few times "Cheap" feels cheap cheap cheap, rather than a valuable Price car 😢

These zero-to-whatever acceleration videos are tiresome and repetitive. The Swift isn't a sportscar, just a good city runabout.

Stop saying cheap, this car is amazing and for the segment is not cheap at least in Europe, the motor is great, the back seats are fantastic, and gas milage is amazing. One of the best cars on the market quality price but is NOT cheap.

That swift came with m13 engine 2005 6 was one of the best stock 9.5 sec 0 to 100 and with modes mine does in 8.5 and after that i swapped m18 fwd and it is bonkers quich also it does have some good weight

I love the look of these on the exterior and the interior is leagues ahead (looking) than the previous gen. I just wouldn’t be able to buy one over the Polo 1.0T - phenomenal engine and little car.

Great little car. Their only issue is the paint suffers badly from stone chipping. I hope Suzuki addresses this issue.

They just upgraded the exterior nd added some features

The thing about that light body - one work colleague had one and in a freak accident smashed into the back of our boss's Jeep Compass. The front end was totaled whilst the Jeep had barely a ding in the bumper. He immediately switched to larger vehicles for safety reasons - like a Toyota Fortuner and then finally a Ford Everest.
You get what you pay for. That light body is most probably a death trap in a severe accident.

Just get the Honda FIT Hybrid and be done. Yes, you do get what you pay for.

Nice car but I'm fed up of driving underpowered cars. I currently have a 2003 polo 1.2L with 65Hp that weighs 1010kg. It's a great car but it feels dead slow even when driving in town. I feel that Mazda's approach with the high compression ratio 1.5L NA engines was better than this

I hope they make the Sport version❤

I have a 16 yrs old VW Golf with a 2 liter diesel engine and 320000 kms, regularly serviced and kept in garage. Combined consumption 5 liters. Has heated seats, 320nm of torqe, 8 airbags, a lot of extras Suzuki not even thinking about to offer. I would never buy this Swift to replace my 16 yrs old Golf. Suzuki is sooooo cheap, but I still would buy a used car for this money with much more to offer!

Finally got a chance to drive it.
Compared to the MG3 Hybrid, despite being slower, its superior in every single way. Really impressive little car that kind of makes a an argument for being all the car you really need.

Seems an overall worse car in every respect except maybe fuel economy (if claims are believable). Weaker, less durable engine. Worse styling. Much higher price (than what they've been selling for here). No options without the complexity of a largely pointless hybrid system, more ADAS crap to try to disable. Just a less appealing proposition.

Good to see that Suzuki sticks to the nouveau vomit design principles pioneered by German hermaphrodites on microdosed acid a decade ago. Remember the Mk 1 and 2 Swift? No, probably not because tasteful design was banned in Suzukiland around 2016. Luckily the buyers of the non-Sport versions are the sort of young women who will enjoy the optional influencer camera mount and capacious beauty product (glove) box. God help us all.
