Can someone explain showjumpers and firefighters to Me? Why showjumpers and why do they show a child-like fascination with the fire equipment. They are like dogs, they don't take no for an answer.

Even twelve years ago when this aired, they were trying to point out the dangers and ignorance of show jumpers trying to put out fires and rescue people. Yet that message was held in low regard or ignored by successive governments. And now we have such a proliferation of these red coated equestrian buffoons at virtually every major fire that arises. Enough is enough.

Greatest sketch show ever

The look on marks face when he starts waggling the hose...made this 50 year old mans heart ache ...we were all kids once...brilliant acting from all of them ...nothing on tv these days to even come close to the laughs.

So he flips 'em over, and ff-ffuhmff, and funnily enough it lands on its wheels, and it starts first time and they just drive away

Childlike fun with costumes and actual firefighting equipment. Makes me wonder how they came up with this sketch.
Did they have this concrete idea? Or was it improvisation because they had a fire engine?
"You know what? We also have a bunch of show jumping suits. They're so posh. Any ideas?"
"What about this: we are just some loons interfering with fire fighters?"
Or whatever. I suspect a good portion of genuine randomness.
