This is beautiful. It's officially my mother's birthday February 22. I lost her the beginning of this year. She lived a rough life and this song always made me think of her. She put the love of classic rock into my heart while growing up. Today is her first birthday after passing away, and I can't express how this song has touched my soul.

I don’t know how I missed this song - and most of Tom Petty’s work - back in the day. Really. Fortunately, we watched the biopic about “Wildflowers” a couple of months ago. Since then I have played and sang a handful of his music. Probably done this song nearly every day.

I have a friend Kathleen whose late husband Jim was a HUGE Tom Petty fan and every time I hear this beautiful song it makes me think of how much Jim loved her and how all the sentiments in the song are things he would have wanted for Kathleen. And this is a beautiful rendition.
