That's a cool chain alignment tool. I'll have to borrow that in the future lol
ОтветитьGreat video and well detailed. I went from a stock 15T to a 14T, Just the opposite. LOL You should be set for highway interstate cruising. When I changed mine out I did a rear sprocket change (stock T) and new chain. I did re-use the locking tab washer on the nut once I torqued the front sprocket nut to spec. Let us know how it rides. Ride safe Sir!
ОтветитьGreat video, brother! I've been thinking about swapping a 16t on the front of the CBX but haven't so far (stock is 15t). For one, I ride offroad lots (about 50/50 here this last year, so the extra torque down low is nice there), and two I haven't ridden interstate much in the last 12-15 months (other than a trip or 5 to Smoky Mtn Knife Works about 1/5 hours away), BUT when I were to get to where I can get back to making a week trip a couple times per year (2020 ain't looking good for it, LOL 🤣) it's definitely on my short list. Hope y'all are well and safe, my friend 😊✌
ОтветитьMostly Ceasar i work on lots motorcycle back went was 12 years old that 1972 Triumph, Spitfire & Honda?
ОтветитьNice too see new bike I got a new bike too a 650 Royal Enfield contantal GT love it keep safe man
ОтветитьGood video. You can see when you removed the 14t front sprocket that one side got polished a little more than the other. The chain is riding weird and not straight onto the counter sprocket. I wonder if you have similar wear on the rear sprocket too? Not critical but its a little more than usual wear.
I got the motion pro chain alignment tool is nice and I have used it, but maybe its just me but my rear sprocket sways ever so slightly and will get you real close to center. I found that after I brought the chain alignment tool with my bike on the rear stand (as you have yours) just roll the rear wheel forward (as if your riding the bike) and watch out the chain rides the rear sprocket.
You'll want to adjust your rear wheel alignment so that the chain for the most part rides the center of the sprocket. It will not all the time, but your looking for most of the time. This is again because the sprocket may sway a little bit, and the chain its self has oddities.
Ride safe and keep the shiny side up..
You should just start your service tool collection now so you can video all your services. Like rim protectors , tire spoons with built in bead breaker , cable lube tool , fork seals tools. Man you will have a tool drawer of service tools just for the SV650.
ОтветитьI got 14/46 on my sv650 it's great for in town riding haven't taken on interstate yet
ОтветитьBe good to know how many rpm you dropped at 70mph. Did you flag an rpm w the 14 tooth at a speed to compare the 16 tooth with?
ОтветитьSometimes when you install the front sprocket backwards the chain doesn't line up like it should. Glad you got it situated. I'm going 16t and got the oem style sprocket with rubber gasket.
ОтветитьGreat explanation. I've always struggled with the front sprocket. Definitely going to do the 16t after hearing your reasons. Great video !
ОтветитьExcellent video. I like how you went ahead and said "go ahead". I went ahead and counted it, and I went ahead and noticed that you went ahead and said it 14 times. Go ahead and keep up the good content. I went ahead and found it to be very helpful. I also went ahead and bought that alignment tool for next time, when I go ahead and change my chain and sprockets again.
ОтветитьNice video. Thanks for sharing. I used a 8’ level to align the rear to the front wheel. Amazing the ride improvement when shits properly functioning and adjusted, like wheel tracking.
ОтветитьLove that you use gloves;)
I try to put on gloves with all I do.
How many rpm vs old and new sprocket?
Ответитьhow did u get your bike so CLEAN/
ОтветитьHello great video. I have a question, the gear indicator is located under the front sprocket and outside of the engine case? I think I need to clean mine. Thanks in advance and greetings from Chile 🇨🇱
ОтветитьSir can you help me where can I buy 16t 520 front sprocket pls
ОтветитьDo you happen to know the proper torque spec for the front sprocket of the SV650(Gen 3)?
ОтветитьDid the chain tensioner do its job or did you modify the chain?
Ответитьdid mine 17 front tooth and rear 41
ОтветитьThanks for the final explanation ! We appreciate the work to put this together
ОтветитьCool video. I just ordered a chain alignment tool like yours. Brilliant tool. Thank you.
