ОтветитьIs that an afro on Tony? Hahahaha... it's just nothing that I would ever expect from him!
ОтветитьBritish tenor player and British pianist amazing!
ОтветитьGreat song but he is just a little too cute with the vocal. Always thought he was way over rated.
ОтветитьTony is fabulous with his April soft-bop
ОтветитьWhere was this recorded?
ОтветитьYea, Buddy Rich was the world's Greatest Drummer. He played some very mean drums. Would have loved to hear him play with Coltrane & Tyner & play all that busy stuff behind Coltrane & McCoy the way Elvin Jones did. Buddy certainly had the chops and could really kick ass the way Elvin Jones could.
ОтветитьTony's version is OK but check out Frank D'Rone's video of "April" - clearly superior!
Ответить@bzockster Amen! I couldn't agree with you more.
ОтветитьI first heard this song when Dick Foran did it, in the Abbott & Costello movie, "Ride em' Cowboy." As much as I love Tony Bennett, I like Dick Foran's version better, since the tempo was slower. Doris Day also covered it, and her version was slower, and more enjoyable, too. It's all a matter of personal taste.
ОтветитьIf this great song is to be jazzed up, it should be an instumental. The poignancy of the lyrics deserve more than the dismissive attitude that Bennett gives them. There are multiple vocalists on YT that do this song much better. This also goes for another jazz standard, "There will never be another you". Listen to Nat Coles version and youll understand what Im talking about. i
ОтветитьThe poignancy of the lyrics deserve more than the dismissive attitude that Bennett gives them -- I AGREE!
